Generate management indicators within the selected tool will be an advantage should be taken into consideration when choosing the Web platform to carry out timely control in advancing processes. The use of ICT conjugated with an appropriate methodology, encourage the development of companies to plan achieving management of resources: human, financial and material, with their respective savings in time and money.Item Algoritmo neuro-difuso para la detección y clasificación de fallas en líneas de transmisión eléctrica del sistema ecuatoriano usando simulaciones y datos de registradores de fallas(2012) Alvarado Guichay, Efrén Vinicio; Torres Contreras, Santiago PatricioItem Almacenamiento de energía mediante baterías para aliviar la curva de demanda del alimentador 0524(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-01-19) Rodríguez Méndez, Juan Carlos; Mogrovejo León, Wilson FernandoThis work studies the feasibility of implementing energy storage in feeder 0524 in the city of Cuenca to alleviate the demand curve. For this, both technical and economic aspects of existing technologies on the market are considered. Feeder 0524 belongs to substation 05 (El Arenal) of Empresa Eléctrica Regional Centro Sur, it is located in the urban area of the city of Cuenca (Tarquino Cordero street, El Arenal, El Salado, Indurama, Coral Centro, El Tiempo, Parque Iberia, Av. Remigio Crespo, Miguel Merchán school). Based on consumption data recorded for 12 months for this feeder, the feasibility of battery based storage systems to flatten the demand curve is analyzed. The selected system consists of a bank of 56 Lithium Ion batteries, with a total storage capacity of 500 kW taking into account that it is the power provided by the El Descanso Thermoelectric Plant to the 0524 feeder when the generation dispatch requires it, that is, when the energy demand is greater than what hydroelectric generation can provide. These types of batteries allow their use in city conditions and the operating parameters of the feeder. With the results obtained, an analysis of the technical benefits of its implementation is carried out. It is shown that the operation of the proposed storage system allows the feeder to function better, especially in peak demand times, when the storage system delivers load to the grid, while the load of the system can be carried out in a better way, in off-peak or off-peak hours. The economic-financial analysis of the proposal shows that the initial investment is $647468.51, this investment is justified because the TIR is positive with a value of 11.64% and the VAN shows that the expected return is greater than a minimum acceptable return. From an economic point of view, the incorporation of a battery bank is beneficial for the Electric Company, due to the fact that the demand curve can be flattened, obtaining a better projection of the energy necessary to meet the consumption requirement, which is beneficial if one takes into account that the energy that comes in this case from a water source would be stored during the off-peak hours with a lower cost to use it in the hours of highest consumption, reducing dependence on the energy produced by a thermoelectric plant with a more expensive value. It should also be considered that if the project is part of a private investment, it would not present profitability due to the current costs of the elements that make up the systemItem Altitudinal and Temporal Evapotranspiration Dynamics via Vegetation Index-based Modelling over an Andean Páramo Ecosystem of Southern Ecuador(2018-07-27) Ramón Reinozo, Mayra Elizabeth; Carrillo Rojas, Galo JoséThe páramo ecosystem is considered the main water supplier for the Andean region. Additionally, in this type of ecosystem, ET is the major source of water loss for the hydrological cycle. However, given the lack of in situ ET measurements in such remote ecosystems, ET dynamics on the hydrological regulation still remain largely unexplored. Therefore, this study, by making use of remote sensing images, assessed the altitudinal and temporal dynamics of actual evapotranspiration using remote sensing images and a vegetation index based on a crop coefficient model in a high altitudinal páramo catchment. It contributes evaluating three vegetation indexes (VI) - Enhanced vegetation index (EVI), Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Soil-Adjusted Vegetation Index (SAVI) – that were retrieved from clear-sky Landsat satellite imagery. Remote sensing imagery and ground-level meteorological data for a 10 months period (2013 – 2014) were used to create ET maps from each VI. Daily ET time series were obtained with cubic spline interpolation, and then aggregated to monthly time steps in order to validate through the water balance of the study area. Results reveal that EVI- based ET (ETEVI) outperformed the other VI-based ET. ET estimates exhibited a strong dependence on precipitation and land cover distribution. ET variability showed a good fitting with the water balance for the humid months while it was weak in the less-humid months. The percentage error in the less-humid period was two times greater (50%) respect to the humid months (25%). Regarding the altitudinal variability and land cover, ET was higher in the lowlands where evergreen vegetation prevails (65%), while in the highlands ET decreased significantly where tussock grasslands dominate (77%). The study also demonstrated that a fine calibration is needed to obtain reliable ET estimates for the less-humid months. Additionally, it contributes to the evaluation of three VI- based ET, which in turn, contributes to the body of knowledge of ecohydrology of the highland tropical Andes, which is potentially exposed to the negative effects of land use change, agro-industrial activities and global warming.Item Análisis y propuesta de solución integral al congestionamiento vehicular que se produce en la Av. 24 de Mayo y Vía al Valle, de la ciudad de Cuenca(2017) Mejía Regalado, Iván Alejandro; Guzmán Crespo, JaimeThe present study proposes a solution in regards to the congestive vehicular traffic located at the intersection of Av. 24 de Mayo and Valle Road. After determining all the problems generated at the intersection we seek solution alternatives through traffic simulations, taking into consideration prior projects as far back as up to 5, 10, 15 and 20 years; reaching a solution framed in a service level analysis of both approach lanes and the use of the intersection, reaching a level of service B to a projection of 20 years. Item Análisis de cadenas de ventas al Retail para definir procesos ETLque faciliten la elaboración de un Datawarehouse que permita un análisis financiero(2015) Coronel Aguilar, Fabián Teodoro; Arias Cisneros, Germán AlexanderThis document, in its first chapter presents the subject of the study, hypothesis, and the objectives that want to be achieved along with relevant methodology. Students, faculty and administrative staff need to travel to the Balzay area. Previous studies show that, public transport by bus is one of the most used alternatives to cover the trips of the students of University of Cuenca. Unfortunately, the current routes of public transport lines are not prepared to provide an efficient service in the new Eco Campus Balzay. This study aims to design small modifications in the public transport routes to satisfy the emerging demand to and from the Eco Campus, changing the current service as little as possible. Different scenarios are defined and analyzed using Genetic Algorithms (GA) applied to the design of bus lines. The results show how small changes in the affected area improve users' travel times.Item Análisis de estabilidad de frecuencia del sistema eléctrico ecuatoriano incorporando generación eólica con escenarios de demada, generación y contingencias(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-01-20) Pachari Pacheco, José Geovanny; Ochoa Correa, Danny VinicioElectrical power systems worldwide tend to have environmental responsibility and energy sovereignty, with the incorporation of non-conventional renewable energy and introducing technical-operational problems. The Ecuadorian National Interconnected System (SNI) was analyzed considering the base case and 4 scenarios; The base case establishes the current system with thermal, hydraulic and wind generation with 66.6MW and a system demand of 4261.20MW, the demand was covered with a contribution of 91% hydraulic generation, 8% thermal and 1% wind; In scenario 3 with a wind generation penetration of 647.19MW, the output of unit U6 of the Paute Molino plant and a demand of 4261.20MW, the demand was covered with 79% hydraulic, 7% thermal and 13% wind, failing to comply the frequency limits allowed by regulatory entities at 0.25%; For scenario 4, it considers a wind generation penetration of 885.10MW, output from unit U6 of the Paute Molino plant and a demand of 4261.20MW covered with 71% hydraulic, 8% thermal and 20% wind, failing to comply with the frequency limits allowed by regulatory entities by 3.5%. Simulations are carried out in Simulink Matlab with: Base case criteria and the 4 scenarios considered, generation agents most representative of the Ecuadorian SNI and a contribution system to the Primary Frequency Control (CPF) for wind generation with virtual inertial; Important improvements are obtained in the contribution to the CPF by the wind generation agent.Item Análisis de impacto de la implementación de indicadores en el desempeño y calidad del desarrollo ágil de software en la industria de Retail(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-12-10) Arias Zhañay, María Belén; Alvear Alvear, Oscar PatricioThe activities that are generated in the retailers use technology to automate and enhance the sales and distribution processes. This is why the need for custom software development is presented by the IT area to meet the requirements of the different areas. Under this context, the managements are forced to invest in IT development. The analysis of the software development process of the IT area of a retail identified high delivery times and low quality of the requirements, generating a bad perception on the part of the other retail areas. Based on this, this project proposes the implementation of performance control indicators of the software development process in the Information Technology (IT) area of a retail. For this, SCRUM was implemented as an agile development methodology, Cycle time for the continuous improvement of the process and Balanced Scorecard (BSC) as its control methodology. After the implementation and stabilization stage of the proposed methodology, there was evidence of a change from 74.27% to 81.82% in the average attention to requirements, this with a growth of 7.55%. Also, the customer satisfaction rate increased from 65.10% to 92.56%. Regarding the cycle time of the software development process in average days, it was realized that it decreased from 50.86 days to 48.88 days. The requirements quality rate rose from 68.30% to 91.90%. Under this context, the notable improvement in the software development process is determined by implementing these indicators that allow continuous improvement of the IT area.Item Análisis de integración de parques eólicos a la red de transmisión ecuatoriana. aplicación al proyecto Huascachaca(2012) Chacho Ochoa, Pablo Florencio; Espinoza Abad, Juan LeonardoItem Análisis de la estabilidad actual de la Ermita Sur en la Hidroeléctrica Mazar(2014) Almache Sánchez, Luis Mario; Bojorque Iñeguez, Jaime AsdrúbalMazar Hydroelectric presents several problems related to unstable slopes that affect normal functioning and represent a risk to the dam built. This paper discusses the slope stability of La Ermita Sur, located upstream of the dam in which different factors triggered a movement of this mass. One modeling was performed by computational means of the slope, analyzing primary factor precipitating water. Applying the MEL limit equilibrium method, through method Morgenstern - Price is based model of the physical - mechanical original slope, the water table was varied from its original depth to the worst situation in the slope surface, this modeling was performed for the fault plane assumed in the batter and searched by the program level. Then applying the inverse analysis method sensitivity was found physical- mechanical parameters with which the slope is the limit of his equilibrium. The results obtained by MEL through modeling by the method was verified tense- deformational applying the finite element method using MEF reduced shear, the results between the two methods were similar, areas of slope failure both methods were concordant. In both methods and pseudo- static conditions are applied for static slope failure criterion applied to all cases was the Mohr – Coulomb.Item Análisis de la estabilidad del cerro Shishio mediante el empleo de técnicas numéricas(2011) Vintimilla Avila, Maribel Cristina; Bojorque Iñeguez, Jaime AsdrúbalItem Análisis de la estabilidad en pequeña señal del Sistema Nacional Interconectado del Ecuador(2013) Arias Reyes, Pablo Danilo; Morocho Cabrera, Carlos AlbertoItem Análisis de la estabilidad global del talud izquierdo del cuenco amortiguador de la presa Mazar(2010) Lojano López, Janneth del Carmen; Robles Bolaños, JulioItem Análisis de la estabilidad y diagnóstico del talud de la Zona no. 2 en Guarumales(2010) Cevallos Andrade, Leopoldo Santiago; Bojorque Iñeguez, Jaime Asdrúbal; Robles Bolaños, JulioItem Análisis de la influencia del ingreso del proyecto ciclo combinado 318 MW dentro de la matriz eléctrica del Ecuador(2014) Cárdenas Dávila, Carlos Alexis; Goyes Ayala, Jorge WashingtonCurrently the electric Ecuadorian system to meet the national demand has mainly used generation hydroelectric and thermoelectric, the latter made up of units with gas and steam turbines among the cheapest on the type of fuel they use. Both technologies are used to generate separate electricity. There is the possibility to be exploited more efficiently, using the heat contained in the turbine exhaust gas to produce steam in heat recovery boilers and driving this product at high pressure into a steam turbine, thus producing additional power without incurring consumption of fuel, forming in this way a combined cycle plant. Thanks to the interest of the national Government to increase the national energy supply and that it is of low production costs, combined cycle power project is underway in the central Termogas Machala, located in the sector of Bajo Alto in the province of El Oro. In this plant are currently operating two gas turbine in open cycle to which will be added a third gas turbine of similar characteristics and cycle will close with three heat recovery boilers and their respective steam turbine. With the implementation of this type of power plant, pioneer in the country, will be to increase energy supply in additional 187 MW, completing 318 MW which will produce all the combined cycle. In addition to the above, will reduce production costs of the new plant at 36%, as well as to contribute positively to the improvement of the energy matrix of Ecuador to move with their generation at low cost, more expensive generation technologies manner saving the country 1,070,000.00 US dollars for the operation of the third gas turbine plus steam turbine.Item Análisis de la regulación hidrológica de lagunas en una zona de páramo del Austro Ecuatoriano(2018) Rodas Ochoa, María Verónica; Mora Serrano, Diego EstebanAndean plateau ecosystems, especially wetlands and páramo areas, are essential for the lowlands in the watersheds of the tropical Andes. The mountainous regions usually capture the humidity of the air mass-es, which can lead to an uncertainty in which the páramo can reach certain degrees of humidity. In this work, it was quantified hydrological regulation processes in páramo zones for a small watershed in the Ecuadorian Andes. Two paired subbasins were identified and characterized: Tomebamba and Culebril-las. The TOPMODEL and VHM hydrological model were implemented, which revealed that, for calibra-tion as well as for validation, the simulated flows of the Tomebamba catchment underestimate the ob-served flows. Therefore, it was determined that the yield of the VHM and TOPMODEL model of the Tomebamba catchment resulted in a satisfactory NSE (0.82 and 0.85); whereas the Culebrillas catch-ment showed an acceptable NSE (0.74 and 0.73). The Tomebamba catchment has a more deteriorated climate area than the other one; its weight and the influence of other external factors show a much better modeling results than the other (supposedly much simpler). Finally, the Tomebamba catchment holds páramo processes, being its regulation capacity higher compared to the Culebrillas one, due to the exist-ence of lagoons. The performance of TOPMODEL is simpler, and, therefore, the most recommended for modeling páramo basins.Item Análisis de la siniestralidad y metodología para la identificación de tramos de concentración de accidentes de tránsito en la ciudad de Cuenca(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-09-19) Gavilanes Barahona, Héctor Fernando; Correa Barahona, Diego EstuardoThe adequate identification of Traffic Accident Concentration Points (PCAT) is of great importance for cities. One of the most recommended methods for identifying these points is the Empirical Bayesian Method (MEB), which is known to be statistically superior to conventional methods, since it contemplates statistical phenomena typical of random variables, as is the case from the regression to the mean. In the present study, the MEB was applied to the most conflictive intersections identified by processing the accident data of the city of Cuenca registered by the Municipal Public Company of Mobility, Transit and Transportation of Cuenca (EMOV EP) in the period 2016 – 2021. The analysis of results indicates that the vehicles involved, 63.76% are private vehicles, 19.37% are motorcycles and the other types of vehicles have a value of less than 5%. Among the most common causes are disrespecting traffic signs 21.05%, influence of alcohol 19.39% and neglect of traffic conditions 18.68%; being the year with the highest accident rate 2018. From the application of the MEB, it was determined that the intersections with the highest probability of occurrence of accidents are: Av. de las Américas and Calle Turuhuaico with 99.64%, Av. de las Américas and Av. España with 43.69%, Av. de las Américas and Av. Octavio Chacón Moscoso with 27.11%, Av. de las Américas and Av. Remigio Crespo with 27.01%, Av. Héroes de Verdeloma and Av. Gil Ramirez Dávalos with 20.44%, Av. las Américas and Av. Abelardo J. Andrade with 15.52%. The proper identification of these PCAT through the proposed method will be of great help to the Institutions that manage mobility and road safety in the city.
