Localized reactive hyperplastic lesions on the gingiva can be focal fibrous hyperplasia, pyogenic granuloma, peripheral ossifying fibroma and peripheral giantcell granuloma. From the clinical point of view, these injuries are similar to each other and follow a common evolution in their formation. Therefore, it is necessary to perform histological examination in order to confirm or modify a presumptive clinical diagnosis, even when lesions appear to be benign, since these lesions could be similar to some oral cavity malignant tumors. This study reports two cases of gum localized reactive hyperplastic lesions where clinical and histopathological characteristics, allowed a definitive diagnosis: focal fibrous hyperplasia and pyogenic granuloma.
