Item Gamification and Its Influence on EFL Speaking Skills(Universidad de Cuenca. Facultad de Filosofía, Letras y Ciencias de la Educación, 2025-10-20) Cáceres Lema, Jessica Valeria; Guamán Japón, Marlene del Rocío; Calle Calle, María DanielaIn recent years, gamification has been incorporated into English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context, as it significantly supports the language learning process. This strategy integrates game components into non-game settings in order to motivate students by creating a more engaging classroom. Therefore, game-based tasks help oral production in EFL educational environments. In this sense, this research synthesis aims to analyze how different types of gamified activities contribute to the development of EFL speaking skills. In order to reach the proposed objective, this investigation systematically selected, reviewed, and analyzed 22 empirical studies. The results revealed that gamification significantly promotes the development of verbal communication skills. However, the effectiveness of this strategy depends on its correct application. In this regard, this work encourages further research in the Ecuadorian educational field with a focus on practical teacher preparation and the age-related application of gamified activities.
