    Turismo residencial o residencia permanente de extranjeros en el valle subtropical de Yunguilla, provincia del Azuay; 2012

    Yunguilla Valley is one of the top tourist attractions in the province of Azuay. In the last decade this valley has become an area with a big number of vacation villas, which have been purchased by both people from the province of Azuay and other areas in Ecuador and foreign people who were attracted by several factors such as good weather, good soil and direct contact with nature. This research work aims to analyze the evolution of residential tourism or permanent residence of foreign people in Yunguilla Valley and its economic, environmental, and social impacts as well as the profile of tourists who have been attracted by this phenomenon. In this context, the problem statement is as follows: Isn’t Yunguilla Valley a vacation destination for people from Cuenca anymore? Has it become a permanent residence for some foreign people? In order to obtain positive results, a quantitative work methodology with statistical analysis methods was used, as well as closed-ended question surveys and documentary researching. Also, a qualitative methodology was applied by using open-ended questions on personal experiences. In this way, the main motivations of resident tourists were determined as well as their level of satisfaction after they carried out such undertakings. As a result, it was determined that this phenomenon occurs because foreign people have made Yunguilla Valley their permanent place of residence.
