Item Construcción de un indicador para dar a conocer la calidad residencial de la población de adultos mayores en Ecuador: un análisis regional al año 2022(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-06-10) Morocho Morocho. Bryan Andrés; Rebolledo Sisalima, María del Carmen; Mendieta Muñoz, Luis RodrigoQuality of life is a multidimensional concept because it encompasses different physical, social, economic and other factors. Regarding older adults, the residence is a key factor since it provides a safe and comfortable environment, allowing them to have a healthy aging. The objective of this research was to analyze the residential situation of the country's gerontological population at the regional level; the methodology used consisted of the construction of a synthetic indicator at the cantonal level and the estimation of spatial econometric models to determine the factors that influence residential quality, the data were collected from the Population and Housing Census, National Institute of Statistics and Census, and Banco Centro del Ecuador for the year 2022. The results indicate the existence of spatial autocorrelation in the indicator, showing that in the cantons of the Coast and Amazon regions there is low residential quality, on the other hand, the most influential factors in the indicator were: GVA per capita, illiteracy rate and population density. The development of health sciences has made it possible to extend life expectancy, despite suffering from a permanent disease, thanks to the use of medicines and care. The world's population is living longer, facing greater chances of developing long-lasting chronic diseases and physical and mobility limitations, which in turn lead to a greater demand and need for care. Provision of care, as it is currently structured, is facing a crisis and requires urgent attention. If the required care is not provided, the consequences will significantly affect the quality of life of older persons. In this context, the present research paper seeks to measure the level of influence of the social organization of care in the perception of the quality of life of a group of older persons, in early old age, in the city of Cuenca, Ecuador, in the year 2020. The results have shown how the State, private providers and the family acting as care providers, have a positive influence in the perception of the quality of life of the elderly. However, the community appears to have a negative impact. Understanding the type of care and the quality of care provided by each provider is vital to rethinking and rebuilding a care regimen that is more equitable among its parts and achieves better levels of well-being for older adults within societyItem Evaluación del impacto de la pensión para adultos mayores sobre la oferta laboral de los hogares con beneficiarios en el Ecuador período 2012-2013(2015) Argudo Barrera, Dalia Maritza; Salamea Contreras, Lidia Joselyne; Sarmiento Jara, Juan PabloIn this paper, we estimate the impact of the “Pensión para Adults Mayores (PAM)” on household labor supply for the urban sector, measured by the average number of hours worked by the household, using the panel June 2012 – June 2013 of the ENEMDU. To determine the effect generated by the PAM was used the difference in differences combined with Propensity Score Matching. The results indicate that the pension for older adults has not had an indirect impact; ie no effect on the average labor supply of co-residents of a beneficiary, but rather is a direct impact on beneficiaries feminine. Therefore, there is not sufficient evidence to reject the household behavior conforms to a unitary model.
