Item Arquitectura moderna en edificios académicos. Aproximación a los proyectos del Arq. Mario Arias Salazar entre los años 1957-1978(2019-04-23) Moyano Tobar, Gabriel Alejandro; Saltos Carvallo, Héctor JavierThe interest in knowing and understanding the different aspects of Modernity was the main reason that, from the beginning, motivated the realization of this work. With the purpose of delving into the Modernity, especially in the architecture aspect, this thesis project focuses on the Modern Architecture, developed within the fifties and seventies decades in the city of Quito. In relation to this orientation, and thanks to the research that has been done previously by the Architectonic Projects Master’s Degree, we have met a generation of architects that wrote one of the most important chapters of the architecture in our country, within a period in which it prevailed, in a way, the common sense based on a way of conceiving values that aspire to be universal; with form criteria, and stabilized by experience. That is why that, through the approximation of the case study, this research has as a goal, in its first steps, of identifying, which are the modern criteria that is used in the university academic architecture in the previously mentioned period, using the archetype notion determination, criterion that is going to be analyzed and proved in the form construction, recognizing the form as the result of linking the place, the program, and the construction. The intention will be to validate the system, through the analysis of representative universal examples, which will help to determine the existing common elements that will allow finding the current applicable resources for the project. In this way, the main tool that will be used is the look of the redraw of five works of Mario Arias Salazar, an architect from Quito, a professional chosen because of his academic large-scale work, in which he tried to apply a coherent system while confronting this type of building.Item Del objeto a la ciudad. Helio Piñón: criterios del proyecto moderno(Universidad de Cuenca, 2019-12-04) Ortiz Vivar, María Gabriela; Sinchi Toral, Iván PaúlThis research work shows that Helio Piñón, faithful to the modernity principles, have used the same project criteria for all his designs from furniture to urban complexes. Because, Helio seeks an artistic construction within every of his works. However, in order to understand his motivations it is necessary first to answer: what is art, architecture and artistic form?. And how these concepts lead to the usage of formal archetypes, which are shortenings for architects while projecting. These are project materials to the extent that they convert into general structures and provide particular solutions. Nevertheless, this is not an unbreakable law due that the architect with his/her discernment of form and insight, who represents reality so as to show an unknown, but esthetic interpretation. After a selection process, the didactic projects of Helio have been chosen for further analysis, from both his web page and academic work. This information along with his theoretical contributions is the main focus of this thesis. Redrawing as a learning tool has led to identify the structure as the orchestrator of the buildings. Thus, it is the discipline and universality of the structure in itself which harbor diverse archetypal solutions. Those devised as architectonic forms could be emplaced in any location without defining it neither disregarding it, but taking advantage its qualities and potentialities. Once the formal construction of the building is understood, the city is studied as a logic cause-effect sequence. A city is composed of buildings. From this perspective the approach of Helio is to tackle the urban issues from architecture. Therefore, form conception of Pinon serves as fundamental project material for both students and professionals. This concept transcends the construction magnitude, because the form is not a scale problem but a visual relation issue.
