The need to be informed has led man to look for immediate mechanisms of communication, to be aware of the evolution process of the planet and in some way, become a fundamental element of this evolution. As time goes by, new information technologies have become one of the most important means of human development, as well as a cultural and intellectual supplement, and a lifestyle. Traditional communication services such as television are being influenced by the development of new technologies and it¢s necessary to reshape new platforms for the coming decades. The most important aspect of this evolution is the convergence of analogue to digital television. This article presents a synthesis of the study of digital television using the Internet Protocol (IPTV) through the copper network with ADSL technology (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) which is, at present, the alternative mainly for broadband networks to traditional platforms of digital television- incorporating the traditional world of television broadcasting services with the online access world, as well as provide technical concepts, necessary conditions to deliver the service, operation, main protocols for digital transmission, minimum requirements, advantages and disadvantages of the service.
