Item Seroprevalencia de brucella abortus como impacto en la reproducción bovina de la provincia del Cañar(2017) Mainato Guamán, Segundo Matías; Vallecillo Maza, Antonio JavierThe present investigation was carried out in the province of Cañar, in 44 herds of cattle, distributed randomly in the seven cantons of the province, was considered an updated bovine population, through the report of vaccination against FMD - Phase II 2014, According to which there are 140,242 cattle. Under the epidemiological study, 447 bovines (n = 447) older than 2 years of age were considered; Of which 93.74% of samples corresponded to adult cows and 6.26% of the samples corresponded to bulls from each herd. The samples were sent to the laboratory of LDR - AZUAY, where the AgP (Plate agglutination test) diagnostic method was carried out, and the positive cases to this test were sent to the AGROCALIDAD, Tumbaco Animal Health Laboratory and diagnostic methods were applied; RB (Bengal Rose test) and competitive ELISA, to determine and quantify antibodies. The prevalence of cattle seropositive to bovine brucellosis in the province of Cañar, with the diagnostic tests of Rose of Bengal and ELISAc were similar in 4.03 and 4.25% respectively and of 29.30% with the diagnosis of plate agglutination test. The prevalence of herds with animals seropositive to bovine brucellosis in the province of Cañar is 15.90% at diagnosis of ELISAc and 13.63% at the Rose of Bengal test and 56.81% with the diagnosis of plate agglutination test. Analyzing the variables of the epidemiological survey, it was determined that the animals belonging to herds where there were problems of postpartum metritis and animals with permanent sterility have a higher risk of being seropositive to the diagnostic test of RB (13.78 and 5.19 Odds ratio, with a Value of p = or < 0.05), as an impact factor in bovine reproduction. Total economic losses were estimated for total cattle population and for cows infected with bovine brucellosis according to the prevalence obtained from the present study
