Item Efecto del uso de un aditivo en la alimentación de vacas lecheras en la etapa post-parto en dosis crecientes sobre la involución, salud uterina, actividad ovárica(2017) Guallpa Lema, Adán Trinidad; Iñiguez Gutiérrez, Carlos UlisesThe aim of the present research was to evaluate the effect of increasing doses (7g, 15g and 21g) of an additive (Roughage MateTM) administrated to dairy cows in the postpartum period on involution and uterine health, and ovarian activity. 4 treatments were proposed with 10 replicates giving a total of 40 experimental units (cows). The treatments were: G1.- 7g of additive; G2.- 15g; G3.- 21g; and, G4.- control group. Sixty-four animals were pre-selected with 15 days anteparts, considered as period of ruminal adaptation to the additive, BCS of 3.25 to 3.50; from 3 to 7 years; 1 to 3 calving; clinically healthy. After delivery, 40 cows needed for the research were selected and divided into four groups by random designation. Uterine involution was evaluated by rectal palpation at 21 and 40PPD; uterine health by endometrial cytology using cytobrush at 34 and 47PPD; and, return to ovarian activity by ultrasonography at 15, 22, 29, 36 and 43PPD. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test and Kruskall-Wallis H-significance test. Up to 36PPD no significant differences were generated by treatments in any variable (P> 0.05); however, at day 43 postpart the treatments influenced (P <0.05) in the presence of follicles class III (G3 = G4> G1 = G2) and restart to ovarian activity. It is concluded that to improve the biological effect of the additive, the basic needs of the trace elements must be met and organic sources must be used.
