Item Grado de sedentarismo y sus causas en los estudiantes de la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas de la Universidad de Cuenca 2014(Universidad de Cuenca, 2014-11-11) Arteaga Borrero, María Fernanda; Campoverde Vizhñay, Johanna Lucía; Durán Rodas, María Gabriela; Cobos Cobos, Diego Fernando; Pesántez Díaz, Tania LorenaBackground: Frequent and regular physical activity produces numerous health benefits. On the other hand, physical inactivity is a public health problem because the body is prone to various diseases, considered as the fourth risk factor for overall mortality according to the World Health Organization (WHO) (1). General Objective: Determine the degree of physical inactivity and its causes in the students of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Cuenca. Methods: A descriptive observational cross-sectional study on 428 students of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Cuenca, on the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) was applied to classify the activity as low, moderate and intense was performed. Sedentary lifestyle also causes were investigated. Results: 43.2% of students are sedentary belonging most of them to the School of Medical Technology. Of the students surveyed, 71% were female. Finally the cause most prevalent with 34.8%, physical inactivity was lack of time. Conclusion: There is a high degree of sedentary students in our faculty, with predominance in the school of Medical Technology and females. Corrective measures will hopefully be taken and implemented plans to help promote healthy lifestyles, considering physical activity as an essential part of primary care in health and disease prevention.Item Tratamiento fisioterapéutico en mujeresembarazadas con dolor lumbar, desde las dieciocho semanas hasta las treinta y dos semanas de gestación que asisten a la Clínica Humanitaria Fundación Pablo Jaramillo Crespo, Cuenca 2014(Universidad de Cuenca, 2015-11-11) Guamán Buele, Heydi Karina; Quishpi Montero, Estefania Alejandra; Zeas Puga, Ana Lucía; Ayavaca Tapia, Luz María; Pesántez Díaz, Tania LorenaBackground. Several pregnant patients experience back pain during pregnancy, it is not always adequately treated during prenatal care, considering its own symptom of pregnancy. Objective. Apply physical therapy in pregnant women with low back pain, from eighteen to thirty- two weeks of gestation attending in Clínica Humanitaria Fundación Pablo Jaramillo Crespo, Cuenca 2014. Materials and Methods. Conducted a quasi-experimental uncontrolled pre-post test study where the effectiveness of physical therapy was assessed by applying "EVA - Numerical" in pregnant patients between 18 and 35 years old with low back pain secondary to her pregnancy between 18 and 32 weeks gestation, receiving 10 sessions of physiotherapy treatment from initial assessment, intervening 3 times a week. The extracted data were described by Descriptive Statistics with Central Tendency (mean, median, mode), dispersion (standard deviation), T-Test, and analyzed by SPSS 18.0. Results. The study sample was 33 pregnant; average initial assessment of pain reported a EVA of 6.61 to 1.27 DS very different from the average evaluation final reported a VAS of 2.12 to 1.43 DS. Conclusions. Physiotherapy application significantly decreases the low back pain in pregnant women.Item Valoración de la postura en las alumnas de quinto a septimo año de educación básica de la Escuela Fiscal Alfonso Cordero Palacios; y programa de intervención educativa. Cuenca 2011.(Universidad de Cuenca, 2011-11-11) Jara Barrera, María Belén; Ojeda Chimborazo, Diana Karina; Santillán Bastidas, Ángel EstuardoThis type of study conducted Participatory Action Research, aimed to promote health and correct posture in the students of fifth to seventh year Basic Education School Fiscal” Alfonso Cordero Palacios" in the city of Cuenca for the period January - July 2011, was done by girls postural assessment to determine the presence of postural abnormalities, provide adequate treatment and contribute to the development of knowledge, attitudes and health practices through health promotion, thus making the school in a healthy space and therefore manages the processes that include family and community. This study shows a way to apply the analysis of the position through postural assessment test, the application of this tool allows the practitioner to practitioner, provide objective and quantitative. Individual risks require a particularized assessment, singling out the student's functional status, relating to their specific tasks, conditions of their place of study, useful for everyday use and other activities of daily life. For the prevention of postural alterations must seek new tools that allow us to have a better grasp of the disorders and muscle-skeletal imbalances girls, through adequate treatment through physical therapy and physical therapy, plus the promotion of knowledge, attitudes and healthy practices, which are fundamental objectives of this research. After the respective analysis of our study, we detected the presence of several position changes among which are: hyperlordosis, swollen abdomen, pelvic anteversion and scoliotic attitude.Item Valoración de la postura en las alumnas de segundo a cuarto año de educación básica de la Escuela Fiscal Alfonso Cordero Palacios; y Programa de Intervención Educativa.Cuenca 2011(Universidad de Cuenca, 2011-11-11) Alvarado Andrade, Andrea Alexandra; Idrovo Calle, Katherine Lizeth; Santillán Bastidas, Ángel EstuardoThe incidence of postural alterations in the pediatric population is increasing due to environmental factors as well as hereditary and cultural influences, facts that imply complications on a muscular level, skeletal and joint, which causes limitations in their motor ability and imbalances, that increase day by day, and in adulthood it can effect their physical and psychological health. It is why this research is of a participatory intervention action type which aims to promote the healthy correct postural in girls, this contributing to improve the knowledge attitudes and practices thereof. 447 cases were studied of girls belonging to the second, third and fourth years of basic education of the public school “Alfonso Cordero Palacios” during the school year of 2010-2011. This information was obtained through a statistic and dynamic analysis of the examined posture by the investigators to detect postural alterations. Apart from this exploration data was taken from anthropometric measurements: weight, height and the index of body mass. Educational and communicate workshops were also held, which were measured through CAPs, applied before and after the investigation, to access the level of knowledge, attitudes and practices related to postural health. Of the total of students who participated in our study 56,40% presented some type of postural alteration, among the most frequent are: hyperlordosis lumbar (17.5%), bulging abdomen (13.85%), antepulsion of shoulders (12.78%), false flat foot (10,65%), pelvic anteversion (9.59%) and others of lower frequency.Item Valoración de la postura en las niñas de la Escuela Fiscal España; y programa de Intervención Educativa, Cuenca 2010(Universidad de Cuenca, 2010-11-11) Bustos Ortíz, Carlos Santiago; Ochoa Jara, Adrián Ismael; Patiño Cabrera, Israel Andrés; Zhindón Galán, Martha DalilaObjective: Perform the postural assessment in girls in the public school "España" to help develop knowledge, attitudes and healthy practices in the 2009 to 2010 school year. Methodology: An investigation of the participatory action was done to 688 school girls of the public school “España” to determine the knowledge, attitudes and abilities of the different processes related to postural health of the participants. Data was obtained from postural assessments made by investigators. Results: 57,12% of girls do not have any kind of alteration. 42,88% of the girls have postural disturbances, of which 97.62% is an acquired condition and 2.38% have a congenital postural alteration. The main changes seen are those that affect the spine, with a total of 143 cases, corresponding to 20.78%, 126 of which are due to scoliosis, 8 to lordosis, 8 to kyphosis and 1 to a flat back, 130 cases were detected of shoulder disorders corresponding to 18,89% of which 99 cases are of fallen right shoulder, 23 are of fallen left shoulder and 8 to antepulsionshoulders. In the same manner 99 cases of higher left scapula and 23 higher right scapula. 9 cases corresponding to cervical abnormalities equivalent to 1.31%. And other changes alterations with lower percentages, knees with a 0.58%, pelvis with a 1.16% and 1 case of flat feet which corresponds to 0.15%. The results of the PRE CAPs, a 60.76% of the students did not know basics facts of the spine, its functions and its most frequent alterations, therefore it was perceived the misapplication of body mechanics when sitting, standing, walking, carrying weights. After the educational intervention, the POST CAPs showed a 97.82% favorable outcome, in which the students received an excellent rating. Conclusions: The proportion of cases in this project are accordingly and sum up to a worrying rise in the number of alterations in cases. Of the 126 cases of scoliosis 78.57% belong to the left dorsal scoliosis and 18.25% have right thoracic scoliosis these alterations being more frequent, the same is corroborated by a series of data expressing scoliosis with a frequency between boys and girls from 10 to 20%. We reveal a worryingly and alarming incidence of scoliosis in schoolchildren so we emphasize health promotion and early detection to postural alterations, this being a dominant factor for the conservation and welfare of our children's health with appropriate programs acting as a manager of health: the family, both public and private institutions and individual awareness.Item Valoración de la postura en los niños de primero a cuarto año de Educación Básica de la Escuela Fiscomisional Salesiana Padre Carlos Crespi; y Programa de Intervención Educativa, Cuenca, mayo-noviembre del 2010(Universidad de Cuenca, 2011-11-11) Cárdenas León, Verónica Vanessa; Déleg Quichimbo, Clara Leonor; Zhindón Galán, Martha DalilaThis type of research, Participatory Action Intervention called Postural Assessment in Children in first through fourth year of elementary Fiscomisional Salesian School “Padre Carlos Crespi "and Educational Intervention Program was held in the city of Cuenca with a population of 457 children who underwent a postural assessment to determine the presence of musculoskeletal physiotherapy and management and make appropriate kinetic, and contributes to the development of knowledge, attitudes and practices through the creation of healthy environments, where the campus is the involved to achieve an educational unit with appropriate lifestyle for health that promote the smooth performance of their students. This study found that 39,25% of the children evaluated did not present any postural change, and that the 60,75% had some type of them, of these, 41,32% are back disorders, and 18,30% to alterations of the feet; and are most common the hyperlordosis and flat feet false, respectively. The peak prevalence of alterations corresponded to children ages 6 to 7 years old. The knowledge, attitudes and practices that proved healthy children before the interventions were poor, so educational and communicative workshops were held, after which the measurements yielded favorable results in each, allowing the development of new experiences and improvements in the quality and lifestyle. DeCS: Posture; Reference Values; Child; Physical Therapy (Specialty); Schools; Education, Primary and Secondary; Health Education; Cuenca – Ecuador.Item Valoración de la postura en los niños de quinto a séptimo año de educación básica de la Escuela Fiscomisional Salesiana Padre Carlos Crespi, y programa de intervención educativa, Cuenca 2010(Universidad de Cuenca, 2011-11-11) Andrade Carabajo, Rocío Alexandra; Chafla Zambrano, Adriana Alexandra; Zhindón Galán, Martha DalilaThis study of Investigation Action named “Valoración de la Postura en los niños de quinto a séptimo año de educación básica de la Escuela Fiscomisional Salesiana “Padre Carlos Crespi” y Programa de Intervención Educativa", was conducted with a displays of 408 students, during the months May 2010 to January 2011, through a postural evaluation that includes the static and dynamic valuation of the posture, which allowed us to detect the most frequent postural alterations in the students getting results as: hyperlordosis (20.14 %), kyphosis (10,86%) and scoliosis (9,28%). With the identification of postural alterations in the students proceeded to plan the kinetic and physiotherapy management for the postural alterations found. Simultaneously four Pre CAPS were applied to value knowledge, attitudes and practices on issues of personal hygiene, healthy eating, physical activity and body mechanics, getting average results: 71% poor knowledge, good knowledge 21 % and 9% excellent knowledge. Educommunications workshops were subsequently developed about the issues mentioned above, at the end of each workshop we applied a Post CAPs to evaluate the knowledge, attitudes and practices acquired in each of these subjects, getting average results: poor knowledge 4%, good knowledge good 11% excellent knowledge 85%. After the investigation the children were participate of it, took on a better lifestyle and practice of bases for correct postural habits, which is why we consider it important to continue this kind of studies focused on detection, prevention and modification of postural alterations.Item Valoración de la postura en los niños/as de la Escuela Juan de Dios Corral y programa de intervención educativa, Cuenca mayo-noviembre 2010(Universidad de Cuenca, 2011-11-11) Fernández Iglesias, Mayra Alexanda; Peñaloza Jiménez, Delia Patricia; Zhindón Galán, Martha DalilaThis type of research; Participatory Action Intervention had as its main objective to evaluate the posture of children from “Juan de Dios Corral” School and make an educational intervention program during the school year 2009-2010. 295 children were evaluated by a postural analysis in a frontal plane in vision: anterior, posterior and lateral; and in a sagital plane: right and left statically with the Postural Table. After performing the postural analysis some postural alterations were identified and treated. Consecutively to this phase we contributed to the development of knowledge, attitudes and healthy behaviors through Health Promotion making the school a healthy space and therefore a promoter of processes which include family and community. The data analysis was performed to obtain the prevalence of the main body alterations and measure the level of knowledge about postural Health. The analysis of the information was realized to obtain the percent of the principal postural alterations; which were, handled fisio and kinesio therapeutic, at par developed together with teachers and family parents workshops educomunicacionales on: postural hygiene, physical activity, healthy supply and personal hygiene, previous application of the pre CAPs; and, finally to measure the obtained results there were applied the post CAPs. The results show that 81% of individuals have postural abnormalities, such as: dropped shoulder, kyphotic and scoliotic attitude, lordosis and flatfoot. Cuenca, enero-julio 2013(Universidad de Cuenca, 2013-11-11) Gonzaga Yánez, Jimena Liliana; Tobay Luna, Verónica Nataly; Torres Torres, Tatiana Lisseth; Zhindón Galán, Martha DalilaResearch of type Participatory Action, aimed to understanding the postural alterations of the children in the Educational Unit Carlos Cueva Tamariz in the city of Cuenca, during the period January thru July 2013 in which we apply test postural assessment to 502 students, afterwards we proceeded with the analysis and selection of data obtained to determine the most frequent alterations in the students who were managed under kinetic treatment, according to the specific needs of each patient, using specific methods and techniques in dynamic and entertaining ways to capture the interest and commitment of the children. In our schedule workshops we included educational communications, which were taught by classrooms, with the following topics: body mechanics, physical activity, body hygiene and healthy eating, the information was strengthened with the delivery of leaflets and elaboration of posters. With the aim of measuring the level of knowledge, at the beginning and end of each workshop, we applied pre and post CAPs and thus determine the benefit of the same. In the tabulation of the data we used programs such as: SPSS 21 and Microsoft Excel 2010, which facilitated the collection and handling of the results. Detecting that the postural alterations were more frequent in: shoulders in antepulsion 32.4 %, hyperkyphosis 22 %, Scapula Alata 13.6 %. As important the level of IMC in relation to posture, was calculated and found a high rate of overweight 8.2 %, risk of overweight 13.4 %,and thinness 4.6 %, with higher frequency between the ages of 6 to 7 years.
