Item Evaluación de la resistencia de la musculatura flexora y extensora de tronco, y su influencia en la discapacidad y dolor lumbar crónico. Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso. Cuenca, 2019(Universidad de Cuenca, 2019-11-28) Sánchez Toledo, Karen Valeria; Muela Carreño, Gabriela Patricia; Estrella Bermeo, Angélica MaríaBackground: It is estimated that 9.4% of the population suffers from low back pain, which makes it the first cause of consultation, becoming a public health problem due to work absenteeism, disability and high socioeconomic expenses caused (1) . Trunk instability, muscular endurance and motor control predispose to low back pain (2). General Objective: To evaluate the resistance of the flexor and extensor muscles of the trunk and its influence on the degree of disability and chronic low back pain in patients who attend the Physiotherapy area of the "Vicente Corral Moscoso" Hospital. Cuenca, 2019. Methodology: A prospective descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in 52 patients with chronic low back pain. The implements used were the Biering Sorensen Test, Flexor Resistance Test, the Roland Morris questionnaire (RMQ) and the Visual Analog Scale (EVA). The results are presented in frequency tables, percentages, central tendency measures, dispersion measures. Results: 94.23% of the population presented a lower than average flexural resistance and 98.08% a lower than average extensor resistance. The moderate degree of disability of Ronald Morris was the most frequent corresponding to 53.85% of the population. Pain intensity obtained an average VAS of 6.60 cm ± 1.88 cm for both genders, and other variables of interest were studied. Conclusion: The patients who presented a decrease in the resistance of the trunk muscles presented a moderate level of disability and pain intensityItem Relación entre actividad física y porcentaje de grasa corporal, Dirección Distrital de Educación 11D01 Loja, 2016(Universidad de Cuenca, 2017-11-11) Castillo Sarango, Soledad Monserrath; Ayavaca Tapia, Luz María; Jaramillo Oyervide, Julio AlfredoGENERAL OBJECTIVE: Determine the relationship between the level of physical activity and the percentage of body fat through the application of the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire GPAQ and plicometry in public workers of the Dirección Distrital de Educación 11D01 Loja, 2016. METHODOLOGY: A quantitative, observational, analytical, cross-sectional study was conducted in 65 public workers of both sexes of the Dirección Distrital de Educación 11D01 Loja. The Global Physical Activity Questionnaire GPAQ was used in order to establish the level of physical activity; and skinfold measurement was applied to determine the percentage of body fat by using a plicometer o caliper. It was used SPSS 15.00 and Microsoft Excel for the tabulation, the data presentation, and the statistical analysis. Frequencies and percentages were calculated, as well as the Chi-square and the Pearson's correlation coefficient. RESULTS: There is a significant relationship between the level of physical activity and the percentage of body fat of public workers. The result of the chi-square test presented a p value of 0,008 for male and 0,000 for female workers. In addition, the Pearson´s correlation coeficient was 0,485 for men, and 0,709 for women. This values determine a positive correlation between the variables under study. CONCLUSION: The studied population has low level of physical activity which was obtained through the Global Physical Activity Questionnarie, and this lifestyle is associated to the development of higher percentage of body fat, establishing an inversely proportional relationship between these variables
