In this project, the analysis, reconstruction, and the symbolic transformation of the
character “Diablo de Lata” is developed, which belongs to the Riobamba popular
festivities. This scenic construction study had been created in based on the creation
processes and the “Hijos del Sur” theater group methodology. It is used as the working line,
some native experimentation tools, field research, the theatrical anthropology of director
Eugenio Barba and the Yuyachkani theater group, relating the character, Diablo de Lata,
with other characters that are present in the Andean imaginary and in the plays of the Hijos
del Sur group.
