Item Comparación de dos abordajes quirúrgicos para orquiectomía, escrotal y pre-escrotal, en perros de 6 meses a 6 años(2016) Vivar Cordero, Fernando Andrés; Bernardi Villavicencio, CristinaThis investigation was performed at the Veterinary Clinic of the University of Cuenca; this project evaluates these approaches, to determine which one is the most acceptable in small animal surgery. A sample of 40 dogs were taken as experimental units, which were randomly allocated 50% and 50% for the two approaches raised. The variables that were considered were the operating time in seconds, the amount of suture in centimeters and the amount of blood in milligrams. The average of the variable amount of bleeding in the pre-scrotal approach was of 332.4 mg, while in the scrotal approach was of 397.7 mg, no statistically significant difference was found, but despite this, the mean pre-scrotal approach was lower, which means less invasion. The variable amount of suture was lower in the scrotal approach with 29.2 centimeters higher in the pre-scrotal approach 30 centimeters, which is not significant. In the variable time of surgery, the mean pre-scrotal approach was 310 seconds of scrotal approach compared with 352 seconds, which proved to be statistically significant and showed that pre-scrotal technique is a faster technique. In conclusion, the pre-scrotal approach could be less invasive technique in which fewer suture is used and that is statistically faster
