The fundamental of this research consisted of analyzing experiences from the genderapproach to the productive, reproductive and community roles of women traders of the Arenal Market in Cuenca during the year 2023. This study adopted a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design and descriptive scope. Two techniques were used: bibliographic reviewand in-depth interviews. The type of sampling was non- probabilistic or by convenience, since theaim was to obtain samples that converge with the objectives. Finally, this research revealed that the women of the Arenal Market associations play a triple role, including domestic activities, care, commerce and community participation. In this sense, conciliation strategies such as transferringresponsibilities to older children and hiring workers in the market were identified. On the other hand, conflicts arise in single-parentfamilies, exacerbated by the lack of co-responsibility and family support. Women traders challenge traditional gender roles, assuming both maternal and paternal responsibilities in their families.
