The investigation of bullying or harassment in educational institutions, has been addressed in the form of paper, divided into three issues: bullying, diagnosis and intervention. The issue of bullying is conceptual, historical reference, characteristics, types and consequences. The theme of diagnostic approaches to the educational institution, requires participants: aggressor, victim and observer, and exposes the view of experts. The issue of intervention proposes a prevention program in the family, school and social context, and legislation to combat bullying. Bullying is a social phenomenon that negatively affects the well-being and academic performance of students, and its prevalence has increased in this institution, which has led to the need to involve parents in the search for solutions. Given that the family is the main socializing agent during childhood, it is considered that the parenting styles exercised at home can influence the behavior of children in the face of bullying, whether as aggressors, victims, or observers. The research is based on a quantitative approach and uses two questionnaires: the Parental Authority Questionnaire, which evaluates parenting styles (democratic, authoritarian, and permissive), and the Bullying Exploration Questionnaire, which identifies the role of students in school harassment situations. The sample included 154 students from fourth to seventh year of basic education, who met the consent and assent requirements to participate in the study. The preliminary results suggest that there is a significant relationship between parenting styles and roles in bullying.
