Item Rasgos culturales, políticas públicas en la salud sexual y reproductiva. Caso: población del cantón Cuenca. Período 2011 - 2013(2013) Pesántez Pesántez, Sandro Patricio; Salazar Vintimilla, Ana CeciliaBackground: In Ecuador, we have implemented a set of policies that address contraception and sexual and reproductive health, developing programs and actions in a social context and culturally diverse, some of whom question his application, because of the contrast with their worldview, ideologies and beliefs. Contraceptive use has represented a range of conditions and diseases physical, psychological and emotional order of the people who use it, triggering changes and disparate social behaviors in relation to sexuality. Objective: To analyze cultural and public policy questions about contraception in the context of sexual and reproductive health in the canton Basin since 2011. Method: Analysis of statistics from the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC), and other institutions, field observations, review of visual and written several publications. Results: Public policies, plans and programs on sexuality and reproduction have been applied vertically from the state and from the proposed international agencies without prior discussion and agreement with the population. Women are the most use contraceptives and those responsible birth control. There is a poor quality sex education in children and adolescents as they are immersed in a culture that encourages activity and sexual practice without proper understanding of the risks and consequences. The state seeks answers to birth control and health risks associated with campaigns, advertising, promotion and distribution of contraceptive methods and elements.
