METHODOLOGY: A quantitative, observational, analytical, cross-sectional study was conducted in 65 public workers of both sexes of the Dirección Distrital de Educación 11D01 Loja. The Global Physical Activity Questionnaire GPAQ was used in order to establish the level of physical activity; and skinfold measurement was applied to determine the percentage of body fat by using a plicometer o caliper. It was used SPSS 15.00 and Microsoft Excel for the tabulation, the data presentation, and the statistical analysis. Frequencies and percentages were calculated, as well as the Chi-square and the Pearson's correlation coefficient. RESULTS: There is a significant relationship between the level of physical activity and the percentage of body fat of public workers. The result of the chi-square test presented a p value of 0,008 for male and 0,000 for female workers. In addition, the Pearson´s correlation coeficient was 0,485 for men, and 0,709 for women. This values determine a positive correlation between the variables under study. CONCLUSION: The studied population has low level of physical activity which was obtained through the Global Physical Activity Questionnarie, and this lifestyle is associated to the development of higher percentage of body fat, establishing an inversely proportional relationship between these variablesItem Valoración de la postura de los(as) niños(as) de la Escuela Fiscal Mixta República de Alemania; y programa de intervención educativa Cuenca 2012(Universidad de Cuenca, 2013-11-11) Sanmartín Cajamarca, Omar Patricio; Zhindón Galán, Martha DalilaThe present study and applier search conducted test postural as sessmentin children Mixed Fiscal School "Republic of Germany" in the city of Cuenca, during the period June to December 2012, to determine the presence of postural changes, and provide appropriate and timely treatment also contributed to the development of knowledge, attitudes and health practices through proper implementation and joint mechanic scare to avoid the appearance of soft tissue disorders a used by alterations of posture. After the detection of postural alterations, We planned and implemented management and kinetic physiotherapy in children, along with the purpose to achieve the modification of attitudes directly related to poor postural habits, we developed some educational and communicative workshops on personal higene , healthy eating, body mechanics, physical activity, after pre application form caps to measure knowledge, attitudes and practices, resulting in a mostly bad in the beginning and then apply a post workshop caps, the values obtained were significantly improved, so that determined that educational interventions are of great importance in the field of health, the positive influence on the acquisition of healthy habits for the benefit of children and educational institution is encouraged trying to carry out periodic assessments of how postural to check the evolution of children for their physical and emotional conditions.Item Valores reales vs predictivos de frecuencia cardíaca máxima en adolescentes de la Unidad Educativa República del Ecuador. Cuenca. 2016(Universidad de Cuenca, 2017-11-11) Lema Guamán, Mercy Teresa; Vintimilla Espinoza, Valeria Adriana; Méndez Sacta, Viviana Catalina; Aguirre Cornejo, Roberto PaulinoBackground: The Maximum Heart Rate (MHR) can be obtained through an excercise test or predictive formulas. Tanaka et al (2001) is among the highlighted formulas. In adolescent population, the MHR shows a different pattern, being as it does not decreases like in the adult population. Therefore it is necessary to know if the values expected according this equation are similar to those reached in adolescents through an exercise test (Cooper´s test). Objective: To compare the MHR values expected according Tanaka et al (2001) with the MHR reached through an exercise test in the adolescent population of the “República del Ecuador” school. Cuenca, 2016. Methodology: Analytical cross-sectional study, performed with 169 apparently healthy adolescents of the "República del Ecuador" school. An exercise test was applied, recording the maximum heart rate at the end. Cross boards and ANOVA were used to find the relation between the MHR and age, gender and physical activity level; and statistical probability by Pearson index with a value 0,05 to know if the values of MHR and MHR predicted are statistically significant. Results: The values obtained with the Tanaka et al (2001) formula and those reached in the exercise test have not statistical significance in the adolescents of the “República del Ecuador” school, denying the exposed hypothesis. Conclusions: Tanaka's formula is used to obtain predictive values of MHR in adults, but when used in adolescents the results are not statistically significant
