Item Actividad físico-recreativa para mejorar la calidad de vida del adulto mayor, del grupo de diabetes e hipertensión del Area de Salud no. 2, Cuenca, 2010(Universidad de Cuenca, 2011-11-11) Montesdeoca Pinos, Cristina Elizabeth; Dután Paguay, Julio Cesar; Zhindón Galán, Martha DalilaItem El desacondicionamiento físico en los adultos mayores de los centros gerontológicos de la ciudad, según las escalas Katz y Tinetti, Cuenca 2009(Universidad de Cuenca, 2010-11-11) Quinteros Parra, Cecibel Alexandra; Tello Avila, María Eugenia; Santillán Bastidas, Ángel Estuardo; Zhindón Galán, Martha DalilaWe accomplished a descriptive study to determine the frequency of the physical deconditioning according to Katz's scales and Tinetti, in a sample of 491 bigger adults given shelter to in the several centers gerontology of Cuenca's city in the period October 2009 – April 2010. The physical deconditioning is more frequent in the bigger adults of 85 years. The 55.9% they were women and the 44.1% of the sample males. The single elderly people occupied the 43.4 %. The 30.4% the widowed elderly people and the 26.2% married couples. Plenitude (29.0%), Cristo the King (25.8%) and St. Anne (15.1%) were the main centers geriatric. In the 71.0% the relative time of immobilization had bigger frequency. Pathologies but you frequent were: Musculoskeletal (46.5%), neurological (25.8%), neuromuscular (11.4%) and metabolic (7.6%). It was found within Tinetti's scales that the bigger adult with some risk of falling is more frequent (67.7%), that if he had some risk (31.5%). In Katz's scale the bigger Independent adult in nutrition, continence, mobility, use of the toilet, getting dressed and taking a bath went from the 20.5%. The 19.0% had an independent for all previous the shows accept one. In the meantime than the adult bigger the independents in the six shows had an 18.1%.Item Prevalencia de riesgo de caídas en adultos mayores del Centro Diurno Gerontológico “Juan Pablo II”. Sígsig, enero 2019- febrero 2020. Cuenca 2021(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-10-21) Toral Tello, María Alejandra; Guamaní Vásquez, Rodrigo JuanBackground: Nowadays, in Ecuador, 6.5% of the total population are elderly people; this year, it is estimated that this figure will increase to 7.4% of the total population. According to WHO data, Elderly people (EP) are most vulnerable to suffer falls and their serious consequences, due to both anatomical and functional alterations caused by aging and the lack of adaptation of the environment to (EP). (1, 39) Objective: To determine the prevalence of the risk of falls with the Modified Tinetti Scale in the elderly of the “Juan Pablo II” Gerontological Center, during the period from January 2019 to February 2020. Methodology: Descriptive, retrospective study using the clinical histories (CH) of the elderly people belonging to the "Juan Pablo II" Gerontological Care Center. Variables of sex, age and risk of falls were assessed, for which the results of the Modified Tinetti Scale of the HC applied by the staff of the Physical Therapy area of the Center were collected. The SPSS version 26 statistical program was used. To represent the values of each variable, graphs, tables of frequency, percentage and descriptive statistics will be used for the results of the database. Results: The older adults evaluated were mostly female, with an average age of 80 years and 8 months. The results showed that the group presented a low level of risk of falling with a mean score of 21.2. From the total number of participants, one third were at each level (31.8%). No association was found between the level of risk and sex (T= -1.63), but it was shown that the older the person is, the greater the risk of falling (r=-0.561).Item Valoración de la capacidad funcional en adultos mayores en el Dispensario de Salud Ochoa León. Cuenca 2018.(Universidad de Cuenca, 2019-04-02) Vera Maita, María del Carmen; Méndez Sacta, Viviana CatalinaBackground: Worldwide, 8% of the population is over 65 years old and will increase to 20% in the coming years (1). In Ecuador there are about 945,904 older adults, they have triggered some kind of alteration or functional loss. (2) General objective: To assess functional capacity in older adults in the "Ochoa León" health clinic. Methodology: descriptive, cross-sectional study in 45 older adults who attended the "Ochoa León" health clinic. The variables to be evaluated were: age, sex and degree of functionality, to assess the degree of functionality the Short physical performance battery test was applied. The tabulation and analysis of the data were obtained through the statistical program SPSS. Results: In the present study it was demonstrated that of the 45 people evaluated, 64.44% were women and 35.56% men, with an average age of 74.76 years. The majority of the population with a number of 31 scored between 7 ± 2, classifying it as a population with mild and moderate functional limitations. According to the relationship between age and the degree of functionality there is a correlation of (0.566) with value (p = 0.000), indicating a statistical significance. While the correlation is negative with (-0.187) for sex and degree of functionality with the value (p = 0.220). Conclusions: the present study evidenced a significant relationship between age and functionality since the older age the greater the loss of functionality, while the sex of the people evaluated does not establish a significant relationship.
