Item Relación entre los niveles de autoeficacia y niveles de dependencia en las actividades básicas en adultos mayores del Centro Gerontológico Juan Pablo II - Jima del municipio Sígsig, periodo 2020-2021(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-08-02) Fernández Rivera, Pablo Joel; Calle Samaniego, Byron Ricardo; Cordero Hermida, María FernandaLate adulthood is the last stage of life that a person faces, which is accompanied by biological, physiological, psychological and social changes that lead to active or passive aging. In this sense, the population tends to make an evaluation of their self-efficacy in relation to their autonomous capacity to carry out their daily activities. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the relationship between levels of self-efficacy and levels of dependence in basic activities of daily living according to the variables age, sex and marital status, in older adults of the Gerontological Center Juan Pablo II-Jima, in the period 2020-2021. The research had a quantitative approach of non-experimental design with correlational scope. The study involved 70 older adults (54 women and 16 men), belonging to the Gerontological Center Juan Pablo II-Jima of the municipality of Sígsig, Azuay. The Barthel Index, which measures the capacity to perform daily activities, and the General Self-Efficacy Scale, which evaluates self-efficacy, were used for data collection. Mild levels of dependence were found in basic activities and levels more than the mean (M=26.03) of the maximum score; and a moderate positive correlation between these two variables. It is concluded that age, sex and marital status are not variables that influence a causeeffect relationship between physical dependence and self-efficacy in adults attending the gerontological center
