The purpose of this article is to make a systematic review of the literature about the dynamics of the
family and its influence on the development of attachment. To fulfill this objective, first the main theoretical
concepts relevant to attachment, the types of attachment are presented and subsequently to this
theoretical approach, the recent contributions on the different critical situations faced by the family and
how these influence the development of attachment, will be reviewed.
