    The odontogenic keratocyst is known for its potential for extensive, subclinical growth and a significant rate of recurrence, it is the third most common cystic lesion of the maxillofacial region, the treatment is surgical, it can be conservative or radical, long-term postoperative controls being importan! term. A clinical case of a 31-year-old male patient is reported, with an odontogenic keratocyst in the jaw, the results obtained with the conservative surgical approach and a 36-month follow-up are described, without recurrence

    Blanqueamiento dental vital combinado: reporte de un caso clínico

    Combined vital tooth whitening consists of a first phase in the clinic with high con- centration whitening agents, followed by a home phase with low concentration whitening agents. In this work we present a case treated with this whitening modality that underwent an in-office session of two applications with a chemoactivatable product composed of 40% hydrogen peroxide, followed by 3 weeks of home treatment with individualizad splints and a 16% carbamide peroxide gel. The results achieved showed a significant and perceptible change in the color of the treated teeth

    Eficacia anestésica de lidocaína al 2% con epinefrina 1:80000 y mepivacaína 2% con epinefrina 1:80000 en el bloqueo del nervio infraorbitario

    Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the anesthetic efficacy of lidocaine with epinephrine 1:80,000 and mepivacaine 2% with epinephrine 1:80,000, in the infraorbital nerve block. Methods: experimental study, 100 subjects randomly received infraorbital nerve block, by using 2% lidocaine with 1:80,000 epinephrine and 2% mepivacaine at two separate appointments spaced at least at 1 week apart, teeth were pulp tested, three consecutive times using the three levels of the pulp tester cycles for a total of 120 minutes. Success was defined as no response after to 2 consecutive readings with the electric pulp tester, students described the symptoms and the response generated, latency period and the action time of each patient was recorded. Results: latency was set in seconds, the anesthetic lidocaine showed a mean of 14.69 ± 7.5 SD and 14.88 ± 8.02 mepivacaine, there was no statistically significant differences between the two groups (P = 0.86), while the action time was determined in minutes for the lidocaine was 186.7 ± 54.54 SD and 146.7 ± 39.28 for mepivacaine, differences were statistically significant (P = 0.0000). Conclusions: anesthetic lidocaine is more effective since it has a longer action period and does not represent differences in latency, comparing with mepivacaine.

    Melanic pigmentations of the oral mucosa are lesions that produce a change in coloration of the mucosa, present different clinical forms, and varied colors may be benign or malignant. Some lesions are related to pathological alterations, including syndromes and neoplasms. The purpose of the study is to review the scientific literature on endogenous pathological oral pigmentations, describe the lesions, and know their epidemiology, clinical characteristics, and pathogenesis, being these important tools so that the professional in oral health can establish a correct diagnosis

    Tratamiento de amelogénesis imperfecta mediante un flujo de trabajo digital: reporte de un caso clínico

    The objective of this article was to present a clinical case of amelogenesis imperfecta (AI) with secondary caries lesion in three first molars, resolved by applying a digital workflow. Methodology: A case of AI was diagnosed and restored using a digital impression and a restoration performed through computer-aided design and machining. Conclusion: The application of a digital workflow is feasible to restore a clinical case with AI in a single session
