The city of Cuenca faces a shortage of permeable soil due to urban expansion and the proliferation of impermeable surfaces, which has increased surface runoff, reduced aquifer recharge, and generated a greater risk of flooding. Furthermore, the lack of green areas contributes to the increase of heat islands, affecting microclimate quality and reducing the city's resilience to climate change. This research aims to propose architectural urban design strategies to recover permeable soil in the urban parish of "El Batán," Cuenca, Ecuador, in order to improve stormwater management, reduce flood risk, and strengthen urban resilience to climate change. The research aims to propose architectural urban design strategies, diagnose the study area, formulate architectural urban design strategies, and implement them in a pilot project (Architectural Urban Project) based on the findings and defined criteria. The implementation of these strategies is expected to contribute to reducing surface runoff, improving microclimate quality, and fostering more sustainable urban development.
