Mediation is a conflict resolution process in which the two opposing parties voluntarily resort to an impartial third person, the mediator, to reach a satisfactory agreement. It is an intrajudicial or extrajudicial process different from the legal or conventional dispute resolution channels; it is creative, because it leads to the search for solutions that satisfy the needs of the parties, and implies not being restricted to what the law says, in addition to the use of psychological resources to guarantee an adequate solution. The objective of this research was to describe the perception of the mediators regarding the use of psychological resources in intrajudicial and extrajudicial mediation in the Azuayan context in the year 2023. An investigation was carried out with a qualitative approach, type of phenomenological design. and exploratory in scope. We worked with seven mediators from mediation centers in the province of Azuay, in Ecuador. The in-depth interview was applied to identify the appreciations that the mediators have regarding the characteristics and usefulness of the psychological resources that are used in the mediation process, in addition to the knowledge they have in this regard. The results obtained show the limited use, knowledge and the real usefulness of psychological resources in mediations in the Azuayan context in different areas, this being a beneficial tool that given its use would bring positive consequences and a culture of peace would be applied in this region.
