The general objective of the research is to analyze the relationship between family functionality and the quality of life of people with disabilities, as perceived by the main caregiver within the project “Attention to people with disabilities at home and in the community” of the GAD Abdón Calderón Parish in the year 2024. For this purpose, a quantitative approach was used with a correlational study design of analytical and cross-sectional scope, using tools such as the Family APGAR, the GENCAT scale, sociodemographic survey and Socioeconomic Stratification survey, applied to a population universe of 30 main caregivers of people with disabilities. The results revealed that 93.3% of the families of people with disabilities have normal functioning according to the Family APGAR scale, while 66.7% of people with disabilities reach a high level of quality of life according to the GENCAT scale. A significant relationship was found between family functionality and quality of life, with a value of p=0.012. In conclusion, these results indicate that family functionality plays an important role in the quality of life of people with disabilities, showing that a functional family environment is associated with better levels of well-being in this group.
