However, what happens when a child does not achieve an appropriated learning for the age? We are in the necessity of evaluate what necessary learning skills are failing and determine whether or not there is a delay in these areas. General objective To determine the skills and learning level from the psycholinguistic point of view in boys and girls from pre-school level 2 of the Luis Cordero Early Education Centre, through the ITPA test. Methodology This is a prospective descriptive study, in which assessments were carried out on children who attended Pre-school Luis Cordero, using the ITPA test, Cuenca 2018 school year. The results obtained were related to the variables described in statistical tables of percentages. The software used for analysis and tabulation was SPSS 23.0, original version and Microsoft for frequency and percentage statistics. Results The sample was composed of 99 participants, among boys and girls. As a result, 42.4% of the population showed a psycholinguistic age appropriate for their chronological age, 41.3% showed a psycholinguistic age below their chronological age and only 16.3% showed a psycholinguistic age above their chronological age, with the psycholinguistic age of 4 years 0 months to 4 years 11 months predominating in the study population, represented by 49.5%.Item Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas de las madres con hijos de 0 a 3 meses acerca de las técnicas de lactancia y posiciones correctas que asisten al Hospital Cantonal Básico de Paute-2015(2016-11-11) Aguirre Ramón, Irma Alexandra; Calle Alvarracin, Mayra Estefania; Villalta Chungata, Blanca Cecilia; Lucio Bravo, Miriam AlexandraBreastfeeding is the only food that contains many nutrients to provide the child, from birth until it meets the first six months of life, as expressed by OMS (World Health Organization) and UNICEF (United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund), the aim is to identify and assess the knowledge, attitudes and practices about breastfeeding techniques and proper positioning applied to mothers of children 0-3 months attending to Cantonal Hospital of Paute the methodology of the study was quantitative, representative, interpretative, using the survey technique in order to assess the level of knowledge, and provide adequate and timely information about breastfeeding A sample was taken of 50 mothers living in the canton Paute with conducting studies pre-caps., and post-caps, using an initial survey consists of three parts: knowledge, attitude and practice, with qualitative and quantitative variables, a training workshop that allowed to present valuable information on techniques and positioning breastfeeding consequently a final survey with different choice alternatives, obtaining significant results. After a comparative analysis of pre-caps., and post-caps., it was found that the means of the knowledge, attitudes and practices of mothers vary significantly, before the formation 51.4% and after the educational intervention 82.9%, an increase of 31.5%.Item Desarrollo psicomotor de niños y niñas que asisten a los Centros Infantiles del Buen Vivir, parroquia Hermano Miguel. Every child under the age of five should be evaluated, with this we guarantee an optimal development in the future, to detect early possible delays in psychomotor development. Objective: Determine the psychomotor development of the children who attend the Buen Vivir Children's Centers of the Hermano Miguel parish. Methodology: Descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional study in quantitative modality, determined Psychomotor Development by applying the scale of psychomotor development Brunet Lezine Revised version relating to age, gender, type of caregiver, instruction of the caregiver and identified the area of vulnerability. The sample was equivalent to the universe: 89 boys and girls aged 12 to 48 months who attend the Buen Vivir Children's Centers of the Hermano Miguel Parish of Cuenca, 2017. By informed consent, the type of caregiver and level was determined training; for the analysis and tabulation of the data we used: SPSS 22.0; In the tables according to the variables, chi-square was used, with a value of p <0.05 for statistical significance. Results: 52.8% of the population was male, the prevalence of psychomotor retardation was 2.2% of the total population. Such is the case of malnutrition a problem that occurs frequently in childhood, this disease can lead problems of learning, attention, memory and school performance; because the body does not have enough energy requirements to accomplish necessary processes in children’s growth and development. GENERAL OBJECTIVE To determine the psychomotor development quotient in children from the age of 4 months to 5 years, with malnutrition in Vicente Corral Moscoso and Homero Castanier Crespo Hospitals. METHODOLOGY A Descriptive cross-sectional study, through direct evaluation to children from 4 months to 5 years old, with malnutrition at Hospitals Vicente Corral Moscoso and Homero Castanier, by the Brunet Lezine Test. Results have been analyzed with central tendency measures, percentages and frequency. We used IBM SPSS Statistics 22 free version. RESULTS This study showed that children from 4 months to 5 years old, who had a diagnosis of chronic malnutrition presented a psychomotor development within the mean that corresponds to 42.5% of all the children evaluated; while 17.5% had a retardation in their psychomotor development. The 18.8% of children with malnutrition of moderate degree had a psychomotor development within the average and the 1.3% had a developmental delay As well the 17.5% of children with malnutrition of mild degree had a psychomotor development within the mean and the 2.5% had a psychomotor development retardation. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: Evaluate the psycholinguistic skills of children from 4 to 5 years old at the “ABC” Early Education Centre, Cuenca 2019. METHODOLOGY: The study was prospective descriptive, this were carried out on children from 4 to 5 years old who attended the “ABC” Early Education Centre, located in Cuenca city. The instrument of evaluation used was the Test Illinois of Psycholinguistic Aptitudes (ITPA). The programs SPSS and Microsoft Excel were used for the data collection and analysis of data. RESULTS: The study sample size was composed of 104 participants from 4 to 5 years old who attended the “ABC” Early Education Centre, we found that, 55.8% showed a psycholinguistic age appropriate for their chronological age, 31.7% showed a psycholinguistic age below their chronological age and finally, 12.5% showed a psycholinguistic age above their chronological age.Item Evaluación de la capacidad funcional de los niños que asisten al Instituto de Parálisis Cerebral del Azuay. Cuenca 2022(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-07-20) Guamán Chunchi, Jessica Daniela; Peralta Avila, Michelle Estefania; Villalta Chungata, Blanca CeciliaBackground: Functional abilities allow the individual to perform activities in their daily life, without assistance from another person. However, they can be affected by disorders such as cerebral palsy, which affects their relationships, autonomy, and participation in society. Therefore, it is considered important to evaluate children attending IPCA using the PEDICAT instrument that assesses functional domains. Objective: To evaluate the functional capacity of children attending the Cerebral Palsy Institute of Azuay (IPCA) using the PEDICAT test. Methods: It is a descriptive, quantitative and cross-sectional study; for the statistical analysis of qualitative variables it uses frequency tables and percentages, for quantitative variables, it uses measures of central tendency: mean, median, and mode; the results are presented using statistical tables and graphs in Microsoft Excel 2019 and IBM SPSS Statistics 25 programs. Results obtained: The sample consisted of 47 IPCA children, presenting dependence on daily activities 94 %, mobility 100 %, social cognitive 96 %, and responsibility 85 %. The highest dependency values were found in the 5 to 6-year-old age group and the male sex, with 59.6 % in daily activities, 61.7% in mobility, 61.7 % in social cognitive, and 51.1 % in responsibility. Conclusion: Children aged 0 to 12 years who attend IPCA present dependence in all domains with higher values in the male sex and the 5 to 6 years range.Item Evaluación de la conducta a niños de 2 a 6 años de la parroquia Sinincay, Cuenca 2020(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-08-06) Atupaña Cajamarca, Daniela Elizabeth; Zhigui Gualán, Cisne Janely; Villalta Chungata, Blanca CeciliaBACKGROUND: Behavior in the first years of life is how children act and present themselves in the social, family, affective, and educational spheres. These behaviors change or mature according to the development of the child and to different social situations that surround them. However, these behaviors may be appropriate or inappropriate, and it is vitally important to recognize them to channel the appropriate behaviors since these define the child's capacity for self-regulation in any event and environment in which they develop. This study focuses on the evaluation of the behavior of children from 2 to 6 years of age from the Sinincay parish, considering this section as a study of the rural area. OBJETIVE: Evaluate the behavior in children from 2 to 6 years of the Sinincay parish, Cuenca 2020. METHODOLOGY: The present investigation is a descriptive cross-sectional study that was applied to parents or caregivers of children aged 2 to 6 years of the Sinincay parish, through the application of the Eyberg Inventory to identify the frequency of said behaviors to be evaluated. RESULTS: Through the present investigation, the behavior of 73 children from 2 to 6 years of the Sinincay parish was evaluated. The Eyberg test was applied of which 45.2% belong to the female gender and 54.8% to the male gender; 41.1% do not present behavioral problems, 31.5% present risky behavior, and 27.4% have behavioral disturbances.Item Evaluación de la conducta en niños de 2 a 5 años que acuden al Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso de la ciudad de Cuenca en el periodo enero – julio 2019(2019-11-06) Tacuri Garzón, Gabriela Fernanda; Tenecora Ocaña, Mario David; Villalta Chungata, Blanca CeciliaThe children's behavior is a primary factor in the normal development, so much in the social, emotional, cognitive and psychomotor space; He is the evaluation that's why it is important of the conduct in the hospitalized children, stops in this way may detect any unusual or at-risk conduct and that way could have intervened prematurely. OBJECTIVE: Categorizing the kind of conduct in boys and girls of 2 to 5 years in the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso of Cuenca's City in the period January – July 2019. METHODOLOGY: Descriptive cross-sectional study through the direct evaluation of the parents or caregivers of children between 24 and 71 months of age who attended the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, through the EYBERG Inventory, the results were analyzed by percentage, frequency; Using the IBM SPSS Statistics 25 program. RESULTS: A sample of 73 boys and girls was handled, of which 53.4% belong to the female gender and 46.6% to the male gender. The investigation showed that 26% had an alteration in behavior; 19.2% obtained behavioral risk, while 54.8% were in the normal range.Item Evaluación de la conducta en niños y niñas de 2 a 5 años que asisten al Centro de Salud Mariano Estrella Cuenca, 2019-2020(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-03-08) Vintimilla León, María Gabriela; Vivar López., Jéssica Maribel; Villalta Chungata, Blanca CeciliaABSTRACT. BACKGROUND: Behavior is the way to express people's reactions to different circumstances in various areas of life, being the interaction of the total organism and its modifiable environment. Therefore, appropriate behavior will favor learning without compromising its development. Some scales determine the type of behavior of children. For this research, the Eyberg scale was taken into account to evaluate children from 2 to 5 years old who attend the Mariano Estrella Health Center. OBJECTIVE: Evaluate the behavior of children aged 2-5 who attend the Mariano Estrella Health Center, using the Eyberg Inventory. METHODOLOGY: It is a prospective descriptive study of quantitative modality, which will be achieved by assessing the behavior of children aged 2-5 who attend the Mariano Estrella Health Center, using the Eyberg test and the IBM statistical program SPSS version 22 for the respective analysis of the results. EXPECTED RESULTS: In the research, there was a sample of 50 boys and girls, of which 64% were males and 36% females. There were 2 years old children which represented 32%, 3 years old 36%, 4 years 18%, and 5 years 14%. Moreover according to the type of family, nuclear with 34%, extensive 56% and a single parent with 10%; and according to the level of education of their parents or caregivers we have that illiteracy is 1%, studies in primary level with 20%, secondary level 50%, higher level with 28%. Cuenca 2022(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-05-17) Bermeo Guaillas, Gloria Cecilia; Ponce Naula, Maria Gabriela; Villalta Chungata, Blanca CeciliaBackground: Visual-motor integration involves the coordination degree of eye movements, wich allow performing activities preceding handwriting. However, children may show difficulties in regard to their graph motor skills. Therefore, the need arises to assess the visual motor integration of children attending Julio Maria Matovelle School through the Beery – Buktenica VMI test, which detects probable alterations of visual and motor skills. Objective: To determine the level of visual-motor integration of the children in prechool II and Kindergarten at Julio Maria Matovelle School through the Beery - Buktenica VMI test. Methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional quantitative study. Frequency tables and percentages, the measures of central tendency that is, mean, median and mode were used to analyzed the variables. Results were shown trough statistical tables, graphs in Microsoft Excel 2013 and IBM SPSS version 22. Results: The target population of the study comprised 94 children. The results are as follows: 90.4% of them show levels of visual motor skills, while 7.4% high show high level and 1, 1% show low and very low in the level of visual-motor integration. Conclusions: Four-to six-year-old children at Julio Maria Matovelle School show average levels of visual motor skills. Male students show higher levels.Item Evaluación de la lateralidad en niños y niñas de segundo de básica de la Unidad Educativa Luis Cordero. Cuenca 2023(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-10-15) Pacheco Bermeo, Carolina Lizbeth; Villalta Chungata, Blanca CeciliaBackground: Laterality is one of the most important features for child development, which is defined as the preference for one side of the body over the other in regard to different motor skills. It directly influences motor and cognitive performance, as well as visual-motor coordination. Therefore, by reinforcing laterality, skills like reading, writing, and mathematics can be improved. General objective: To determine the lateral dominance of second grade children attending Luis Cordero school using the Harris Test of Lateral Dominance. Methodology: The study was conducted at Luis Cordero school in Cuenca, Ecuador. The research population comprised all children in the second grade of basic education, SPSS v25was used for tabulation and analysis of results. Results: 53.30% of children show poorly asserted laterality, 26.70% have crossed laterality, 16.70% are completely right-handed, while3.30% are completely left-handed. In regard to gender, the percentage of males is higher (55%). It is important to mention that the majority of the participants were 6 years old at the time of the evaluation. Conclusions: The study determined that most participants were right- handed. Knowing how important it is for the performance in the environment, we conclude in executing a research study through the "PEDICAT" scale in the Special Educational Unit ADINEA and CEDIN DOWN. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the functional domains in boys and girls of the ADINEA and CEDIN DOWN Special Educational Unit through the ´´PEDICAT´´ Scale. METHODOLOGY This research work was a quantitative, descriptive cross-sectional study that was developed in the Special Education Unit ADINEA and CEDIN DOWN, through the application of the ''PEDICAT'' Scale. For the analysis and tabulation of the data obtained, the IBM SPSS program (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, version 23) was used, which is a set of programs aimed at performing statistical analysis. Microsoft Excel 2016 and Microsoft Word 2016 were used to make the tables and graphs, making statistical tables of frequency and percentages to all the data provided by the research. Children between 0 and 12 years old were evaluated; quantitative data were also analyzed using measures of central tendency: mean, median, and mode. RESULTS The sample was made up of 40 children from the Special Education Units. As a result, 60% of the children in the functional areas were dependent on Daily Activities (24 children), 57% were dependent on Mobility (23 children), 90% were dependent on Social Cognitive (36 children) and 37% were dependent on Responsibility (15 children). The age range with the highest dependence in the functional domains is in the group of 10 to 12 years old.Item Evaluación de los niveles de maduración visomotora en niños y niñas de 5 años de la Unidad Educativa “Herlinda Toral” Cuenca 2019(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-07-22) Morocho Roldán, Gabriela Fernanda; Villalta Chungata, Blanca CeciliaThe visomotor coordination allows the child to achieve a visual maturation process in coordination with the fine movements, in which the child captures what is perceived by sight through the line, that I therefore the need arose to evaluate the visomotor maturation levels in boys and girls at “Unidad Educativa Herlinda Toral", using the Bender visomotor gestalt test, that possible graphic motor alterations detected, to intervene in an early and timely way so that the children can successfully complete their school stage. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: Determine the level of visomotor maturation in five-year-old boys and girls at “Unidad Educativa Herlinda Toral", Cuenca 2019. METHODOLOGY: A descriptive, prospective study with the quantitative modality was developed for five-year-old boys and girls attending at “Unidad Educativa Herlinda Toral" in Cuenca city. For the evaluation was used Bender's visomotor gestalt test instrument. The SPSS and Microsoft Excel 2010 programs were used for the analysis and tabulation of the data obtained. RESULTS: The study sample was composed of seventy-eight five-year-old boys and girls at “Unidad Educativa Herlinda Toral", in Cuenca city, in which we find that 29.5% have a higher level of visomotor maturation for the age, 15.4% have a normal visomotor maturation level for age, and 55.1% have a lower visomotor maturation level for age.Item Evaluación del desarrollo en niños y niñas del inicial I y II de la unidad educativa Carlos Rigoberto Vintimilla a través de la Escala Observacional de Desarrollo. Cuenca 2021(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-03-16) Guiracocha Agudo, Magaly Jackeline; Villalta Chungata, Blanca CeciliaBACKGROUND The first years of life are fundamental for an adequate integral development in the child; since it is exposed to a great amount of stimuli that will influence it´s current development and it´s future learning; however, this progress may be affected due to the substantial and sudden change that the Covid – 19 pandemic has caused. By virtue of this, the present study is expected to be carried out to children of initial I and II of the Carlos Rigoberto Vintimilla Educational Unit who currently recieve classes through virtual platforms, in order to assess the state of development. OBJETIVE To Evaluate the development in boys and girls of initial level I and II of the Carlos Rigoberto Vintimilla Educational Unit through the Observational Development Scale. METHODOLOGY In the research the descriptive quantitative method of cross-section was used according to the Obserational Scale of Development. For the variables cuantitatives measures of central tendency were used: mean, median, mode and measures of dispersion; while the qualitative variables they were handled with percentages. For the analysis and tabulation of the data obtained the IBMS SPSS version 22 program was used and the Microsoft Excel 2013 program was used to make the statistical tables and graphs. RESULTS In the present investigation the following results were obtained: the 9,80% of the children present low development, the 46,30% present adequate development and the 43,90% present very satisfactory child development.Item Evaluación del desarrollo infantil en niños de 2 meses a 5 años que acuden al Centro de Salud "El Valle". For this reason, it is important to detect any changes in development and risk factors early in life. Due to this, our study will utilize the “Libro Clínico ‘Atención Integrada a las Enfermedades Prevalentes de la Infancia’ (2016), to accurately evaluate children between 2 months and 5 years of age who attend the “Centro de Salud ‘El Valle’.” OBJECTIVE: To determine the level of development in children between the ages of 2 months and 5 years, who attend the “Centro de Salud ‘El Valle’.” METHODOLOGY: This study is quantitative descriptive and of prospective character. The study was on children between the ages of 2 months and 5 years who attend the “Centro de Salud ‘El Valle’” located in the canton of Cuenca, from February to August of the year 2019. The development of the children was evaluated based on the criteria established in the book “Libro Clínico: Atención Integrada a las Enfermedades Prevalentes de la Infancia: ‘AIEPI’.” The programs SPSS and Microsoft Excel were used for the data collection and analysis of data. RESULTS: The study had a sample size of 100 (N=100) of which 63.0% were male and 37.0% were female. According to the results utilizing the book “Libro Clínico Atención Integrada a las Enfermedades Prevalentes de la Infancia: ‘AIEPI’,” 5.0% showed normal development, 22.0% showed normal development with some risk factors, 40.0% showed problematic risks in development, this was the highest percentage from the acquired sample, finally 33.0% showed the likelihood of delayed development. This will definitely have an impact on childrens future learning; however, this might also be affected because of prenatal, perinatal, or postnatal factors. Therefore, this study aims to identify the psychomotor development of the children attending Bilingual School, using the Brunet-Lezine test. General objective To determine the psychomotor development of children attending Interamerican Bilingual School. Methodology This is a descriptive and quantitative study. The purpose was to evaluate the psychomotor development of four- to six -year-old children attending Interamerican Bilingual School using the Brunet-Lezine test. The results were tabulated using the statistical software IBM SPSS, version 22 Results The results show that 47% of the participants were male, in regard to the socioeconomic status, the middle level is prevalent at 82,4%; and 53,71% of their parents have been to college. Finally, 96,25% of the participants show appropriate development, and 3,75% show deficiency in their development.Item Evaluación del desarrollo psicomotor en niños de 4 a 24 meses que asisten al área de pediatría del Centro de Salud #2, mediante el Baby test Brunet Lezine, Cuenca 2018 – 2019(2019-10-16) Peñaloza Guamán, Tatiana Belén; Yuquilima Arévalo, Diana Carolina; Villalta Chungata, Blanca CeciliaBACKGROUND Psychomotor development is an evolutionary process; in which child acquires skills and abilities throughout their growth. The evaluation of psychomotor development in children 0 to 5 years is paramount; however; Margalida Coll Andreu, in the XII International Congress of educational theory indicates that there is greater neural plasticity in children younger than 24 months; so it is more important to an assessment at this stage and thus to detect problems or difficulties in the psychomotor development, for appropriate intervention. GENERAL OBJECTIVE Set the age of psychomotor development in children from 4 to 24 months using the Baby Test Brunet Lezine in the area of pediatrics of Health Center #2. METHODOLOGY Descriptive, quantitative study; evaluation of psychomotor development was carried out on children aged 4 to 24 months, who attended pediatric consultation at the Health Center #2, through the Baby Brunet Lezine. The results were tabulated with the IBM SPSS version 25 statistical program. RESULTS A sample of 98 boys and girls was handled, of which 49% belong to the female gender and 51% to the male gender. (1) General Objective: To assess the Psychomotor Development in children from the kindergarten institutes: "Angelitos, San Francisco, and Huayna Capac" Cuenca, 2016. Methodology: This is a descriptive study; the method to be used is the quantitative cross-sectional study. The technique was the direct Observation and Assessment of children, who were part of the study, using the scale of the Psychomotor Development of the Early Childhood Brunet Lezine Revised Version in its Baby test way. The information was collected using the software SPSS V18, the statistical measures, which were used in the development of the tabulation of data, were frequencies, measures of central tendency, graphics and charts according to the variables. Conclusion: Our research, according to Lezine Brunet test revised version, determined that the 5,5% displayed a Global Psychomotor Development Retardation, of which 3,3% are men. It is important to detect in time any possible alteration or risk factor that affects harmonic growth, and intervene in promptly. For this reason, we used the TEPSI Development Test to evaluate children from 2 to 5 years’ old from the Baños Parish to detect any flaw in the psychomotor development.GENERAL OBJECTIVE To evaluate the psychomotor development in children from 2 to 5 years of age, who are from the Baños Parish.METHODOLOGY It is a descriptive, quantitative study. The evaluation of psychomotor development was carried out in children from 2 to 5 years of age, who are from the Baños Parish, through the TEPSI Test. The data analysis was performed using the statistical program IBM SPSS version 22. RESULTS In the following study, the results that were obtained are: 100% of the female population showsa normal development, 84.6% of the male population has normal development and 15.4% presents a developmental risk. In ages, from 24 to 36 months, 82.3% present normal development and 17.7% have a risk, from 37 to 48 months 92.3% have a normal development and 7.7% present a risk in development. The 100% of the population from 49 to 60 months has normal development.
