Introduction: Prolonged sun exposure is a determining factor in the development of skin lesions which can evolve into skin cancer. This risk is higher in individuals who are extensively exposed to solar radiation, such as students of Physical Education and Sports Pedagogy. Various studies show a high level of awareness regarding the risks of UV radiation; however, inadequate practices concerning sun protection have been identified. Objective: To determine the knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding sunscreen use among students of the Physical Education and Sports Pedagogy program at the University of Cuenca. Methodology: An observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional study conducted with 87 students from the sixth, seventh, and eighth semesters of the Physical Education and Sports Pedagogy program. A 17-question closed-ended questionnaire was administered, divided into three sections: knowledge (4), attitudes (3), and practices (10). Data were collected in person, with prior informed consent, and processed and analyzed using SPSS and Excel. Results are presented in frequency tables and cross-tabulations. Results: The majority of students are between 19 and 22 years old (67.8%), male (58.6%), and residents of Cuenca (85.1%). It was found that 67.8% of students have an adequate level of knowledge, 75.9% have favorable attitudes, but only 4.6% engage in adequate sun protection practices. Conclusion: It is evident that most students have an adequate level of knowledge; however, very few engage in appropriate sun protection practices.
