Item Incidencia del internet en el desempeño académico de los y las estudiantes de la Universidad de Cuenca en el periodo 2024-2025(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-12) Cabrera Montero, Viviana Estefanía; Siguencia Ortiz, Sandra Vanessa; Paño Yáñez, Pablo JoséThe Internet is a global network that has evolved over the last few years, generating changes in our society, including the academic field, playing a central role in the teaching-learning processes. The Internet and new information and communication technologies (AI) have experienced a notable increase, reconfiguring society around technology, the media and access to information. That is why this study has as its main objective to know the impact of the use of the Internet on the academic performance of students at the University of Cuenca in the period 2024-2025. In addition, to identify the main uses of the Internet for academic and non-academic fields, explore the uses of artificial intelligence tools in teaching-learning processes and determine the impact of their use on the academic performance of students at the University of Cuenca. Methodologically, the research was guided by the phenomenological design, with a qualitative approach. Data collection involved: semi-structured interviews and focus groups with students and teachers. A content analysis was carried out using Atlas.ti software for data processing. The main findings include interpretations of the impact of internet uses and artificial intelligence tools on students' academic performance. It confirms how these tools have become an essential resource in people's daily lives, especially for students, transforming the way they communicate, learn and access information.
