The objective of this research is to know the perceptions of male students about induced abortion. A qualitative approach, exploratory scope and phenomenological design was used. The tools that were considered were individual structured interviews and a focus group. The study had the presence of 11 male participants from the University of Cuenca between 21 and 30 years of age. The results obtained respond to a thematic analysis process with 10 categories. It was found that male participation occurs under social and personal conditions, where their right to choose is revoked; A large part of the responsibility for the occurrence of abortion is attributed to the family and educational systems, since it contributes very little on sexuality, reproduction and rights, which are not made aware of; abortion is the result of a refusal of contraceptive methods; since it is not for lack of knowledge, but for a lack of knowledge of the consequences
