Item Atención a la diversidad mediante los rincones de aprendizaje en el Centro de Educación Inicial Particular Primeras Huellas(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-05-29) Cordero Maldonado, María Angélica; Quichimbo Saquichagua, Fausto FabricioThis study analyzes the relevance of the application of learning corners as an alternative to educate in and from diversity at the early childhood education center Primeras Huellas. The proposal arises as an educational response to counteract exclusionary practices and adapt teaching to different learning styles and abilities. Diversity is understood as a resource to be exploited, not as a problem, and it is considered a resource to improve coexistence in socio-educational contexts. Methodologically, a qualitative approach is used under a socio-critical paradigm, through an action research design consisting of three phases: diagnosis, design and implementation of the proposal, and evaluation. Four teachers from Initial 1 and 2 levels participated, as well as 54 students. The results indicate that the implementation of learning corners is an effective strategy to address diversity in the classroom, considering the differences and individualities of children, and benefiting the learning process at early ages through play and creativity.Item Currículo y justicia social: un abordaje desde la interculturalidad(2020) Quichimbo Saquichagua, Fausto FabricioInterculturality in Ecuador in recent years has generated belligerence and a broad debate at a discursive and practical level around this polysemic concept. In this con-text, a series of guidelines and legal documents - Development Plan, Organic Law of Intercultural Education, and Ministerial Agreements - allow the incorporation of interculturality into the country’s educational system. Thus, it is visible in the curricula of Intercultural Bilingual Education and ethno – education. Proposals drawn in terms of cognitive and social justice from a qualitative hermeneutical methodology when analyzing documents and texts. This essay reflects on the contribution of intercultu-rality to the construction of societies with social justice and as a principle of the whole society, thus the relevance of the contents that allow us to assess knowledge of the different cognitive, historical, cultural and linguistic manifestations of the country. Hence, the need to understand curricula from the Philosophy of Liberation and the decolonization of knowledge emerges.Item Estrategias docentes para el desarrollo de habilidades del pensamiento en educación intercultural bilingüe: caso Gualleturo(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-05-24) Duchi Tenesaca, Rosa Elvira; Quichimbo Saquichagua, Fausto FabricioIn the bilingual intercultural community education centres of Gualleturo, processes have not been implemented that articulate the pedagogical practices of the teaching staff, nor teaching methodologies based on intercultural bilingual education. Therefore, the objective of this study is to analyze the strategies applied by CECIB teachers in the parish of Gualleturo, canton Cañar, for the development of students' thinking skills. For this purpose, a qualitative, descriptive-phenomenological methodology was applied. A semi-structured interview was conducted with 10 teachers who work in one-teacher schools in the parish of Gualleturo, most of whom are indigenous Cañaris, Puruhás and mestizos. The results show that the teachers are willing and ready to develop thinking skills among their students, as there are no prejudices that prevent them from carrying out such an action in practice. In conclusion, teachers are aware of the importance of developing thinking skills in the learning process of their students and do not feel limited by external factors.Item Georeferencia, análisis y función del patrimonio toponímico del cantón Cuenca: parroquia rural de Baños(2015) Quichimbo Saquichagua, Fausto Fabricio; Aguilar García, María LeonorThis abstract entitled: Georeferencing, Analysis and Function of the Toponymic Heritage of the Canton of Cuenca: rural parish of Baños. It is an investigative contribution that pursues the purpose of raising awareness of the importance of toponyms or existing local names. These ones are associated with particular fields of knowledge such as history, geography, anthropology, linguistics, botany, among others. They are a testimony of human-location relationship, perception of place, time, and nature, throughout time. These are ultimately a philosophy of life itself. A study has been conducted based on written sources belonging to archives and bibliographical documentation. Furthermore, this study was also based on field work which consisted of gathering information about toponimies through oral interviews of local stakeholders in the parish that concerns this study. We have assigned geographic-spatial references to the names of the sites; that is, flat and geographic coordinates for subsequent georeferencing. Within the technical process of georeferencing, ArcGIS 10.1 software is used for the purpose of developing a Geographic Information System (GIS). The database consists of information connected to the toponyms such as location, etymology, origin, literal meaning, and reason. These will allow the displaying and analysis of geographic-historical and linguistic information from the toponyms. Throughout the study, it will be established the logical relationship between the toponyms and the territory. Although some may be incomprehensible, due to linguistic peculiarities, that is, names written in Cañari, Quichua or perhaps in some other language, which is significant in the still existing cultural heritage. Therefore, that is why it is necessary to preserve it.Item La comprensión de la interculturalidad en el Ecuador: retos y desafíos(2019) Quichimbo Saquichagua, Fausto FabricioItem La distribución del espacio público desde una mirada intercultural. El caso del Parque Calderón y sus alrededores en la ciudad de Cuenca(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-07-09) Quichimbo Saquichagua, Fausto Fabricio; Suarez Ontaneda, MakaThis research presents an analyze of the distribution of public space from an intercultural perspective. Through urban regeneration processes, the relationships and exchanges among the population that converge in these spaces, such as: craftsmen/women, merchants, foreigners, tourists, among others. Mainly we focus on Calderón park and its surroundings. By space distribution we mean physical distribution of working spaces, the way jobs and activities are carried out, and the way in which organization, meeting, participation, consensus and dissent in public spaces also make up that distribution. Critical interculturality focuses on questioning social structures, institutions and relationships to break down a structure of colonial power and set up an integrated society with more equal opportunities, based on recognition, interaction, understanding and respect. The reflection I propose centers on gender, class, and ethnic discrimination and how it emerges in public spaces as well as how it is transformed through spaces of resistance and protest. The last section explores interculturality as marked by power and structural violence, meaning entrenched ethnic, religious, gender and class differences. It also presents a section on how government agencies may promote concrete actions through public policies for building a common good in public spaces. This research is qualitative with an ethnographic approach. I divide it into two moments: literature review and field work, and observation and interviews. It also analyzes the space of Calderón Park‘s gazebo (an iconic space) as a determinant of interculturality in public spaces through press archives. This research makes evident existing asymmetries and the lack of participatory processes in the construction of public space. In this sense, I argue interculturality has the potential to act as a means of forgrounding the right to the city for all by addressing social problems present in the cityPublication La medicina ancestral y las prácticas de sanación de sanadoras y sanadores en la Unión Campesina del Azuay-Ecuador (UNASAY-E)(2023) Tubay Zambrano, Fanny Monserrate; Quichimbo Saquichagua, Fausto Fabricio; Arteaga Auquilla, María TeresaFrom the perspective of ancestral medicine, this article exposes healing practices and mechanisms of integral cleansing of the human being (mind, body and spirit), carried out by the healers at UNASAY-E in Ecuador. The study recovers cultural elements, loaded with cultural meanings, in which it is known from the voices of Mamas, Yachacs, Curanderos, Midwives and Cleaners, the procedures applied for the release of energies with which they live daily, so that they do not affect health of the healers. Qualitative research uses the ethnographic method, through interviews and focus groups. Item Presencia y ausencia del pensamiento filosófico latinoamericano en los textos escolares ecuatorianos(2020) Campoverde Gutama, Jennyfer PaolaThe contents of Latin American philosophical thought have been reflected in Ecuadorian philosophy textbooks, from decolonizing perspectives through an ecology of knowledge and intercultural translation aimed at a dialogue and confrontation of knowings. It had a qualitative methodology with an interpretive approach of a her-meneutical nature. The results have shown that the approaches of Latin American philosophy are based on a US plural and diverse; and not in an individual being (ME); that dependency theory is not a philosophical current, but a purely economic one. In addition, that emancipation proposes to overcome situations of marginality and oppression. Categories related to coloniality that make it difficult to understand are also excluded. The texts of identity and culture are not clearly defined, since they are seen as invariable entities in time. The study pointed out that the approach to Latin American philosophical thought is minimal and generates interpretations that lead to consider that Western knowledge is bad; and, furthermore, it revealed the need for there to be content of Latin American philosophical thought to have a look at our context, to know reality and that there is a plurality of thoughts, voices and visions.Item Qué es interculturalidad? reflexiones en el contexto ecuatoriano a partir de las voces y visiones de los docentes(2022) Quichimbo Saquichagua, Fausto Fabricio; Verdugo Guamán, María Eugenia; Sánchez Jimbo, Sandra Patricia; Mendieta Sinche, Poleth AlejandraInterculturality in Ecuador is inserted as a transcendental issue in different areas such as health, education and communication, among others; through the application of public policies. The educational system does not escape this reality, it constitutes a transversal axis, both at the level of basic education, high school and higher education. However, there are a series of approaches around the concept of interculturality that causes its applicability to be carried out from the perspective of the person who states it and its context. On the one hand, it is related to bilingual education, peoples and nationalities; on the other hand, with migratory movements. The objective of the study was to identify the different voices and visions that teachers have about interculturality. The study was carried out under a qualitative interpretive approach of a hermeneutical nature. Semi-structured interviews were applied to teachers of the bilingual national and intercultural educational system from different territories of the country. The main finding is related to the problem of its definition and polysemy of meanings that are articulated to concepts of identity, culture and knowledge. As well as respect, tolerance, interaction and difference. The 2008 Constitution and the Organic Law on Intercultural Education stand out as the main regulations on interculturality. Also, the need to reconceptualize the concept of interculturality, moving from a descriptive or prescriptive definition to a critical perspective. In this way, it becomes an emancipatory tool for the transformation of structures, institutions and social relations to build societies within the framework of equal opportunities.Item Qué se enseña de interculturalidad en las instituciones educativas? Reflexiones a partir de los textos escolares ecuatorianos(2020) Quichimbo Saquichagua, Fausto Fabricio; Quituisaca Torres, Nube AngelicaInterculturality constitutes a transversal axis of the Ecuadorian educational curriculum, to recognize the diversity present in the local, regional and national context; That is why it must work in all areas of knowledge and materialize in educational practice, coexistence within the school and in the Institutional Educational Project. In this scenario, a reflection was raised about the intercultural content taught in educational institutions based on Social Studies textbooks. It has an analytical - interpretive approach of a hermeneutical nature. It has an analytical - interpretive approach of a hermeneutical nature. The results show that the contents regarding interculturality are mainly related to an approach linked to indigenous peoples, a situation that limits their understanding; since at the present time, it must be approached as a condition of the contemporary world and integrate the whole society to face social, cultural, economic, political inequalities, among others. In addition, the study revealed that the contents are extremely limited and there is an absence of topics that constitute key elements for their understanding.
