Anxiety is an emotional disorder characterized by fear of something that is not an immediate threat but rather a long-term concern, significantly affecting university students, particularly due to the academic, social, and personal demands characteristic of this educational stage. Several studies have demonstrated that there are differentiating factors in the anxiety levels of university students, including sociodemographic variables and academic level. The objective of this study was to describe the anxiety levels among students in the Psychology career at the University of Cuenca during the academic period from September 2024 to February 2025. The research employed a quantitative approach, a non experimental design, and a descriptive scope. The study included a sample of 260 psychology students, selected through stratified sampling. The instruments applied were a sociodemographic questionnaire and the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI). The results showed that 23,8% of the participants exhibited severe anxiety, 30,8% moderate anxiety, 29,2% mild anxiety, and 16,2% minimal anxiety. Similarly, it was found that severe anxiety levels were more prevalent among women and students in the initial semesters. Lastly, the youngest age group reported higher levels of severe anxiety compared to older groups. It was concluded that the anxiety levels of psychology students are primarily in the moderate and mild categories.
