The COVID-19 pandemic has globally accelerated the adoption of teleworking as a flexible modality where employees can perform their duties from any location outside the main office, utilizing information and communication technologies (ICTs). In Ecuador, this approach has emerged as a potential solution within savings and credit cooperatives, under the Superintendence of Popular and Solidarity Economy (SEPS) regulations, aiming to reduce operational costs and enhance organizational competitiveness. This study focused on evaluating the operational and financial feasibility of teleworking at the Alfonso Jaramillo León Cooperative (CAJA), following a pilot plan based on the guidelines from the book "El ABC del Teletrabajo". The research addressed the impact on workplace climate, operational performance, and the cooperative's financial position. Findings indicated that implementing teleworking is not feasible for CAJA. Significant negative effects on the workplace climate were observed, including decreased employee satisfaction and motivation and increased stress levels. Additionally, lower operational performance was noted due to reduced direct interaction and limitations in technological infrastructure. Financially, savings were minimal, reaching only 0.003%, which does not justify teleworking adoption as a cost-saving measure or for improving the cooperative's economic situation.
