(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-04-02) Cedillo Sánchez, Kerly Doménica; Guerrero Collaguazo, Diana Magaly; Ulloa Peña, Ruth Esther
Background: According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 15% of workers suffer from mental disorders due to occupational psychosocial risks. University teachers are especially vulnerable, facing stress, burnout, mobbing and interpersonal problems due to increasing work demands. These factors significantly affect their well-being and occupational health, as well as the quality of the educational process, which highlights the importance of addressing this issue effectively. Objective: To determine psychosocial risks in teachers of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Cuenca, 2024 - 2025. Methodology: Quantitative, analytical, cross-sectional study, with a universe of 148 teachers of the Faculty of Medical Sciences. A sociodemographic data questionnaire elaborated by the authors and the ISTAS 21 questionnaire were applied. Data analysis was performed in the CoPsoQ-istas 21 version 2 program, and in IBM SPSS Statistics version 30.00, the relationship between sociodemographic characteristics and psychosocial risks was analyzed using Pearson's chisquare test (X2), and p-value < 0.05. Results: Of the 148 teachers who participated in the study, 64.9% presented medium risk, 33.8% low risk and 1.4% high risk; there was also a statistically significant relationship between sex and the level of psychosocial risk (p-value 0.021). Conclusion: In the study, the medium risk level was the most representative. A correlation was found between risk level and sex, while no statistically significant relationship was observed with the other sociodemographic variables.
