This research addresses the field of religious music that developed in the city of Cuenca, Ecuador, between 1779-1886, the year of the death of the eminent composer Miguel Cuenca Morocho. It addresses, as background, knowledge of musical activity in this city from its foundation. This paper focuses on the description of the musical activity of the choirmasters, choristers, organists, instrumentalists and singers of the Matrix, San Sebastian, San Blas and San Roque, church parishes of Cuenca urban church and delves into historical, labor and family of the protagonists. It includes, as the culmination, the analysis of two religious works of that composer Miguel Morocho

The need to rescue cultural heritage of The Town of Girón Band of Azuay province belonging to Ecuador and to assess their long musical career, is the main objective of this research work. The music played by the Band has always been present at ceremonies, rituals, religious and civic festivals or other events of public and private, to strengthen the sense of belonging. Also encouraged, preserves, disseminates, preserves and protects this icon of popular cultural identity as Tangible and Intangible Heritage value and historical evidence collective traditions of each people.

This thesis contains a research about definition of rhythmic characteristic of "mishquilla" in the "albazo" and the "aire típico"; it is proposed as a starting point, an approach to the general characteristics that form, from the bibliographic information gathered and interpretation of interviews with experts. It also proposes a comparative analysis of these rhythmic features selected works from the Ecuadorian composer Alfonso Arauz, using him manuscripts in confrontation with recordings of selected works. Another contribution of this research is to develop a catalog of the work of Alfonso Arauz with all information gathered.

The methodology of teaching and learning cycle, indicates that the teacher should be the facilitator of a conscious, organized and dialectical interaction and intercommunication between several subjects process. Their role is of great importance, but no positive results were achieved without the leadership, attitude and student motivation. The aim of this thesis, has been to create a repertoire of nursery rhymes based on the seven areas of learning and development proposed by the Ministry of Education of Ecuador, in the Initial Education Curriculum in 2013, so that they are become material support and motivation for the teacher who wants his students succeed in developing their skills; that is, make the child get a good level of identity and autonomy, properly relate to their social environment, develop their verbal and nonverbal language, develop motor skills, among others. The repertoire consists of seven songs, corresponding to a selected skills in each area. In the first chapter the importance of music is discussed as a way to develop learning skills in infants; The second chapter contains basic elements of music theory and tools available for the process of musical creation. The third chapter presents the entire process of production of the songs, step by step; in the fourth chapter it tells what the results obtained with the implementation of the project at the Center for Early Education El Principito of the city of Cuenca were.

This thesis aims to provide to young people and music teachers a pedagogical guide to musical education using musical creativity as the main shaft to increase self esteem aged 15 and 25 years in the city of Cuenca, thus improving their quality of life, his relationship with society and themselves. This teaching guide was performed through extensive research with practical exercises that were applied to young people, it is determined that the stage of youth is a crucial time of life since young people are more sensitive, vulnerable; impress upon the young artistic creativity feels freer and can be expressed naturally.
Elaboración de tres arreglos de temas del libro Yaravíes Quiteños de Juan Agustín Guerrero, para formato banda de rock

The present work is about of the choice of three musical pieces taken of the compilation of ecuadorian music Yaravíes Quiteños, by Juan Agustín Guerrero for the creation of arrangements adapted to a contemporary format such as the rock band. The works chosen for their arrangement are three yaravíes which are: El Cuxnico, Otro Cuxnico and Bartola. It also shows the research process about the ecuadorian yaraví and its characteristics, about the rock genre with its used musical formats; then the process of analyzing the original works and the elaboration of the arrangements adapting the yaravíes to the instruments for rock, looking for the survival of the ecuadorian genre for the future adapting to new sonorities. This work also briefly describes the phonographic record of the arrangements made, as well as the production process for the final result

El presente trabajo rescata los elementos más significativos que al cabo de treinta años sobreviven en la memoria de un musicólogo y profesor universitario ecuatoriano, que visitó Cuba en 1990 por motivos culturales oficiales; cuyo paso por La Habana y Santa Clara le permitió conformar todo un imaginario articulado por la clave de la fascinación. Es un tributo del autor al número especial que la revista Islas dedica a la cultura de Ecuador; y posee notable interés antropológico. The present work rescues the most significant elements that after thirty years survive in the memory of an Ecuadorian musicologist and university professor, who visited Cuba in 1990 for official cultural reasons; whose passage through Havana and Santa Clara allowed him to form an entire imaginary articulated by the key to fascination. It is a tribute of the author to the special issue that the magazine Islas dedicates to the culture of Ecuador; and has remarkable anthropological interest.

This research work is based on the recovery of the sounds of some of the musical instruments of Chorrera Culture thereof also be used in the development of four kinds of musical appreciation in the fourth year of basic general education in a particular order In order to achieve the student to obtain a broad knowledge of these instruments and their role in the musicality of this town. The picture which has been exposed to music education in our environment through the revision of textbooks used in some schools in our city and have the same contents that were initially analyzed in order to make this work relevant to our a teaching and become a useful reference for teachers. Important aspects of the instruments used were also rescued: execution modes, classification, construction, emphasizing the whistle bottles, because the inventories are only archaeological reserves and rarely have managed to be heard or executed, is intended this research regain its sound and offer it to the new generations in order to revalue. Finally, it is vital to note that the classes proposed in this paper are perfectly applicable to classroom teaching as they are designed for understanding the teacher; However, the significant contribution it can give to its contents greatly enrich the methodological proposals of this guide

Investigación etnomusicológica y notación musical de las melodías ancestrales kañaris expresadas a través de la bocina y chirimia

This work ethno-musical research, collection and establishment of ways the songs cañaris expressed through the horn and flageolet, developed in indigenous communities belonging to the canton Canar and Tambo. The data collected melodies are the product of a thorough field investigation whose purpose is to document and catalog the ancient musical knowledge of the people cañari. It should be noted that informants are elderly people who have eredado knowledge from generation to generation. This research also makes a historical and geographical reminiscent of the early days of the Kañaris, the arrival of the colonial mining in the area, the system Kañaris Andean festivals, Catholic and contextualization of the use of musical instruments.

This thesis is focused on the life of composer Augusto gualaceño Saquicela Lituma and the rescue of their jobs musical composition, respecting the historical context in which this artist unfolded. In this way, we aim to understand why his creations. This work provides reliable and unpublished information of this character who was dedicated to the art of sounds. Thus, we present data that have gone unnoticed in the history of music of Ecuador, representing the surprising findings phenomenal creative work of the teacher Augusto Saquicela Lituma. The investigation leads to information about the nationalist current in Latin America and in Ecuador; then it will be considered to Luis H. Salgado and Gerardo Guevara; then this focus on the history of Gualaceo and active participation in various patriotic events and historical facts, this canton lost valuable information of its written history when they burned the files that were in the municipality of this county in 1920, by Indians of San Juan, therefore, this work will help to rescue valuable information in this valley in the province of Azuay, continuing research we reached the Saquicela family history, then focus on the life and work of composer Augusto gualaceño Lituma Saquicela subject of this thesis.
