Auditory comprehension is the ability to understand the meaning of words, sentences and messages that are transmitted orally; allowing new ways of thinking and acquiring new knowledge. Therefore, the objective is to determine the incidence of difficulties in the development of auditory comprehension of language in students of the Zoila Aurora Palacios-Cuenca Educational Unit during the year 2023. A cross-sectional prospective descriptive quantitative descriptive study was conducted to measure auditory comprehension of language in children from 3 to 6 years of age, using the Test for Auditory Comprehension of Language (TECAL). The sample included 100 children from kindergarten I to second grade at the Zoila Aurora Palacios Educational Unit. Children with greater difficulties in vocabulary and syntax tended to have lower performance in listening comprehension. Likewise, the difficulties were manifested with greater intensity in the group of children from 5 to 6.11 years of age, where a high incidence of low performance in these linguistic components was observed. As for the age ranges between 3 and 4.11 years of age, there are students who reflect a normal condition in the development of the language components. The study highlights a significant incidence of difficulties in the development of auditory comprehension of language and these difficulties have a direct impact on the academic performance and social interaction of the children.
