This paper contributes to the thought on the factors associated with menstruation which influence the absenteeism of teenagers who are part of two educational units valued during the first semester of 2022 in the city of Cuenca. The approach of analysis is based on the contributions of decolonial feminist theories, as well as the human rights approach. The methodology used to identify the factors associated with menstruation which influence the school absenteeism of teenagers was a quantitative approach of exploratorydescriptive type, for which reason surveys and a checklist were applied to achieve the proposed objectives. The participants in the study were 139 menstruating teenagers between 13 and 17 years of age from Escuela De Educación Básica Doce de Abril and Unidad Educativa Particular CEDFI, located in the urban and peri-urban areas of the city of Cuenca. In the results the identified main factors associated with menstruation which influence the school absenteeism were the limited information about menstruation that teenagers deal with, prejudice, teasing and criticism from their peers; as well as cramps, menstrual pain and the inadequate infrastructure of the bathrooms that limit the correct menstrual management of teenagers in educational units
