(2017-06-07) Pacheco Paredes, Juan Efraín; Corral Maldonado, Liena Rosana
The proposal to create contemporary artistic ceramics from aesthetic and technical elements of chorrera pottery demanded dialogue and participation of knowledge which enabled this work to be fulfilled. In this regard, it was first necessary to revise the available technical resources on ceramics in order to understand, from practice and experimentation, the craft processes of construction. Due to the lack of specific data about the Chorrera philosophy, we turned to the Amazon cosmovision to understand the concept of unity that people live within their context of animistic nature. The multiple possibilities that contemporary art has explored took us to the resource of appropriation of the shapes of everyday objects, which were later represented, decontextualized and redefined in the creation of new ceramic whistle bottles, which could be called “chorrera neo whistle bottles”. Within the conceptualization process, the anthropophagite manifesto by Andrade and the cannibal aesthetics by Rojas became the theoretical fundamentals used to represent a contemporary artistic expression with Andean ancestral elements. The present work is framed within the "Lines of artistic research, creation and production of the Faculty of Arts" and that corresponds to the points: 1. Creation and production in the arts and design. 4. Studies of theory, aesthetics, criticism and history of art and design.

(2013) Arévalo Cuenca, Liliana; Corral Maldonado, Liena Rosana
The project emerges out of a need to protect and conserve patrimonial assets in Cuenca and the importance of recovering these spaces. This requires planning and the creation of specialized places for their care; museums therefore fulfill a specific mission and provide satisfactory solutions. With the discovery of the old sewage collector site called “El Gallinazo” in the immediate area of the Market ‘9 de Octubre’ the Unit of Urban Archaeology of Cuenca initiated work that included surveys, evaluation, and registration, fulfilling the law of Cultural Patrimony that requires archaeological prospections in order to guarantee the protection of patrimonial assets. The old collector is considered a cultural remain due to its architectural and historical characteristics. Given the special characteristics of the collector, a recuperation project was initiated with the creation of a thematic museum that reflects part of its history. It is important to highlight that the interior design of the museum provides much visual and emotional satisfaction, especially taking into account the fact that museums are centers for cultural diffusion, research, and consultation, Additional features, such as the furniture, museum devices, and other special elements, as well as unique lighting of spaces and objects, provide material and chromatic spatial equilibrium. This is how a Design Project of the Museum Area of the Uses of Water in Cuenca has been developed.

This degree project focuses on the design of an illustrated book as a dissemination tool about revolutionary female personalities of Latin America. It is aimed at students of the University of Cuenca, with the objective of generating awareness and inspiration about the legacy and the struggle of women for equal opportunities in any discipline. For its correct development, we proposed the use of the design methodology proposed by the author Bonsiepe, in which the problem is structured through the collection of information and then go through a process of hierarchization of data, and end with the definition of design criteria that allow the development of a final editorial product, validated by the defined audience.

This curricular integration work has as its main objective to design a digital magazine as a tool for the diffusion of religious architecture in the city of Cuenca, with the creation of artistic pieces, applying the anaglyph effect proper for the 3D style in the photographs and illustrations to strengthen the urban visual identity of Cuenca, which evidences the diverse and impressive churches, being one of the intangible elements that have given this city a distinct personality. Helping to transmit the most iconic elements as opposed to the use of words or other functional aspects that apply to graphic design as a means of information. Making for this a theoretical logical path from the method of Bernd Löbach (creative process of problem solving); which starts from a brief with data collection and the creation of a user modeling; a design process and moodboard for the development of the sketches, and finally the solution is finalized and the minimum details are rectified for the development of the product correctly.

The Ecuadorian curriculum of Artistic and Cultural Education encourages respect and evaluation towards the tangible and intangible cultural heritage, which promote th e active participation among students. For this purpose, recognizing the legacy that remains around ancestral wisdom related to the use of medical plants and the actions of care, enables us to identify and appreciate the valuable role of women in this preservation. Therefore, based on interviews performed in women from the urban area in Cuenca and research focused on active and decolonial methodologies, a didactic planning model is proposed. Through group activities of sensoperception, games and interviews, students develop their understanding cooperatively and to recognize how ancestral wisdom still present on women’s minds and practices. The artist technique being used is converted into the medium to materialize the processes of exploration and research carried on, which supports the preservation of oral traditions.
