Item Análisis comparativo de la condición física en estudiantes de séptimo ciclo, evaluados previamente en primer ciclo de la carrera de Pedagogía de la Actividad Física y Deporte de la Universidad de Cuenca(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-04-09) Carchipulla Largo, Carlos Elián; Paguay Padilla, Alex Santiago; Cajamarca Naula, Rosa SusanaThe physical condition is an important factor in the formative process of the students of “Pedagogy of Physical Activity and Sport”, since, there are particular characteristics linked to the physical performance of the career and the profession itself. Students of the University of Cuenca carried out a study in which the physical condition of first cycle students of the Pedagogy of Physical Activity and Sport Career was evaluated; although there is the mentioned study on the initial physical condition of these students, there is no documented evidence on their current physical condition at a specific stage throughout their academic career. Based on this situation, the general objective is to analyze the physical condition of students in the seventh cycle of the Physical Activity and Sports Pedagogy program at the University of Cuenca, in relation to previous evaluations applied to the same students in the first cycle. The research method to be applied was quantitative, in addition to a comparative analysis with a descriptive approach of longitudinal cut. The tools to be applied were: the EUROFIT battery and the short version of the IPAQ questionnaire. The study population consisted of students in the seventh cycle of the Pedagogy of Physical Activity and Sport career; as results, a significant progression of physical condition was found in relation to the study previously conducted at the University of Cuenca. Conclusions: The comparison with the evaluations performed in the first cycle indicated a general worsening in physical capacities, and especially in cardiovascular endurance.Item Impacto del Entrenamiento HIIT en los Componentes de la Condición Física Relacionados con la Salud en Adolescentes: Un Estudio en Cuenca, Ecuador(Universidad de Cuenca. Facultad de Filosofía, Letras y Ciencias de la Educación, 2025-10-30) Illescas Quituisaca, Juan Sebastian; Molina Morocho, Leandro Marcelo; Cajamarca Naula, Rosa SusanaPhysical inactivity in adolescents is associated with deficiencies in health-related physical fitness components (HRPFC), increasing the risk of chronic diseases. High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) has emerged as an efficient and adaptable strategy for educational settings. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of an 8-week HIIT program (2 sessions per week during physical education classes) on HRPFC in Ecuadorian adolescents. A pre-experimental, quantitative approach was applied with 26 participants aged 15 to 17. The program included bodyweight exercises performed for 30 to 60 seconds at 90% intensity. The following components were assessed: body composition (skinfold thickness), cardiovascular endurance (Course Navette), strength (standing long jump and handgrip dynamometry), muscular endurance (abdominal test and flexed-arm hang), and flexibility (Sit and Reach). Statistical analysis was performed using paired t-tests and Wilcoxon tests (p < 0.05). Results showed significant reductions in body fat percentage (14.00% to 13.48%; p < 0.001), and improvements in cardiovascular endurance (+1.17 stages; p < 0.001), jump strength (+5.06 cm; p < 0.001), handgrip strength (+1.63 kg; p < 0.01), abdominal endurance (+1.69 repetitions; p < 0.001), and flexed-arm hang (+3.75 s; p < 0.01). Flexibility did not show significant changes (p = 0.20). It is concluded that HIIT is a feasible strategy in schools to improve adolescent physical fitness; however, longer programs and the inclusion of specific flexibility exercises are recommended.Item Influencia de la gamificación en la motivación, basada en las necesidades psicológicas básicas en estudiantes durante las clases de Educación Física(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-09-23) Sagbaicela Samaniego, John Davis; Torres Lazo, Adrián Mateo; Cajamarca Naula, Rosa SusanaLearners' low motivation affects the creation of different disadvantaged attitudes on Physical Education. For this reason, a purpose came up to evaluate the effects of a proposal of gamified games to improve the degree of motivation according to the basic psychological needs of tenth-grade students during Physical Education classes. A quantitative approach was used, employing a quasi-experimental design with 66 tenth-grade students from República del Ecuador High School. These students were divided into control and experimental groups. The Basic Psychological Needs (BPNS) and a 16-session intervention program were carried out. The results revealed an increase in the motivation of the students of the experimental group in the post-test, as well as a significant difference in the variables of autonomy, competence, and relationship with others between the female and male participants. It concludes with the relevance of using gamification to address the student's psychological well-being and strengthen collaborative work.Item Programa de ejercicios específicos para la resistencia aeróbica en jugadores de baloncesto de la academia 'Streetball Paute' categoría 13-16 años(Universidad de Cuenca. Facultad de Filosofía, Letras y Ciencias de la Educación, 2025-11-05) Pizarro Rodríguez, Christopher Rafael; Cajamarca Naula, Rosa SusanaThis research addresses the issue of low aerobic endurance among adolescent players of the basketball academy ‘Streetball Paute’, located in the canton of Paute, Ecuador. The study focuses on athletes aged 13 to 16, a critical stage for physical and athletic development. Through the implementation of a specific exercise program, the aim is to improve the players’ aerobic capacity, with its impact assessed using the Course Navette Test. The methodology was quasi-experimental with a quantitative approach, involving a five-month intervention structured in progressive training phases both on the court and in the gym. The results showed significant improvements in the participants’ aerobic performance, demonstrating the effectiveness of the applied program. This study not only directly benefits the players of 'Streetball Paute', but also sets a precedent for future research and training programs in the field of youth basketball development.
