(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-05-16) Cajamarca Barbecho, Roberto Carlos; Novillo Verdugo, Miguel Ángel
The present research explores how the incorporation of youth slang in the educational field can benefit the development of writing skills. Through an innovative pedagogical approach, where the use of slang among young people is analyzed, it can serve as a resource to motivate, engage and improve students' written competence. This is because familiarity with colloquial expressions specific to their context makes it easier for young people to express themselves more fluently and authentically when writing. For this purpose, the objective was to understand how writing stories based on youth slang can influence the improvement of written texts, for which qualitative research was used, which allowed identifying the qualities and weaknesses of the students, where the unstructured observation, group discussion, and evaluation of personal experiences, finally a didactic sequence was designed and applied, as a methodological writing strategy, where students wrote a story, and subsequently, received workshops on spelling and grammatical rules, as well as as well as identification and conceptualization of youth slang terms commonly used in their environment, and then adapt some of these expressions in their narrative texts.Once the stages of the didactic sequence were completed, it was found that more than 60% of students improved the use of punctuation marks, 100% correctly distinguished and wrote narrative and descriptive texts, more than 70% correctly used circumstantial complements and more. 90% mastered the use of connectors, additionally it was observed that the stories had greater production thanks to the use of youth slang, they showed greater content and creativity, becoming attractive to readers.
