Thus, the University of Cuenca aims to expand its academic offerings with careers that meet the new needs of the environment. Therefore, the objective of this thesis is the elaboration of a study to determine the pertinence of the Dual Foreign Trade career. The methodology used combines qualitative and quantitative approaches, using surveys to determine student demand and the availability of importing and exporting companies to be part of the dual program. In addition, a focus group was conducted to gather information on the knowledge and profile that the graduate should have, and a benchmarking study was carried out to structure the curriculum of the new career. The results revealed that there is considerable interest from 281 students out of a universe of 1417 respondents in pursuing this career; on the other hand, the businessmen participating in the focus group recognized the value that graduates of this career could bring to their organizations. Similarly, there was great acceptance by the companies to be part of the dual network, thus strengthening the link between academia and the business sector. These findings support the relevance of the dual mode Foreign Trade career and provide a solid basis for its successful implementation.
