Item Análisis de rendimiento y profiling del modelo WRF en un clúster HPC(Universidad de Cuenca, 2014) Gualán S., Ronald M.; Solano-Quinde, Lizandro D.; Universidad de Cuenca; Dirección de Investigación de la Universidad de Cuenca; DIUCThe Weather Research and Forecast (WRF) model is a fully functional modeling system that supports atmospheric research and weather prediction. WRF was developed with emphasis on efficiency, portability, maintainability, scalability and productivity, allowing it to be successfully implemented in a wide variety of HPC equipment. Therefore, the size of the problems supported by WRF has increased, so the understanding of the WRF’s dependence on the various elements of the cluster, such as CPU, networking and libraries are crucial to enable efficient forecasting and high productivity. In this context, this manuscript examines WRF scalability in HPC equipment, taking into account three parameters: number of CPUs and nodes, communications and libraries. Two benchmarks carried out on a cluster of high performance provided with a GigaEthernet network, allow to establish the relationship between scalability and the three parameters studied, particularly WRF demonstrates sensitivity to inter-node communication. This factor is essential for maintaining the scalability and increasing productivity by adding nodes to the cluster.Item Aplicación de SPEA2 al cálculo de esquemas de dosificación para el tratamiento quimioterapéutico del cáncer(Universidad de Cuenca, 2014) Jordán Villamar, Carlos; Valderrama Saltos, Ismael; Universidad de Cuenca; Dirección de Investigación de la Universidad de Cuenca; DIUCThis paper presents the application of SPEA2 to calculate optimal dosage schemes for the chemotherapeutic treatments of tumors, where such schemes consists in the specification of several cytotoxic agents, its frequencies and doses to be administered. In this optimization problem, the calculated schedules should optimize more than one objective at the same time: not only tumor size but also the toxicity that remains after the treatment, cost, etc. SPEA2 is a genetic algorithm that applies the Pareto optimality criterion to calculate an approximation to the Pareto frontier, from which the user can choose the "best" or more appropriate solution. In this work a software tool was developed: SoT-Q. It has two main modules: an optimizer that calculates optimal dosage schemes and a simulator that applies these schedules to a simulated patient with a tumor; the functioning of the simulator is based on a pharmacodynamic model to represent the tumor. In the future, once SoT-Q is extensively tested and debugged, this computer program could assist oncologists in decision making about chemotherapy treatments; it could also serve as a teaching aid in training new health professionals. Results obtained using this tool were very good; in all test cases, both tumor size and residual toxicity at the end of treatment were reduced significantly; even more, in some examples the reduction was of three orders of magnitude.Item Buscando la excelencia educativa: gestión de procesos académicos y administrativos en instituciones públicas de educación mediante BPM(Universidad de Cuenca, 2014) Flores, Ana; Lavín, José M.; Calle, Xavier; Universidad de Cuenca; Dirección de Investigación de la Universidad de Cuenca; DIUC; Alvarez, EdisonThe need to improve the efficiency of organizations has forced to adopt new management policies. This need has also come to public institutions, including universities. One possibility for improvement is the application of the Business Process Management (BPM) to public management. ICT provides the opportunity to implement this approach through a tool like a Business Process Management Suite (BPMS), which increases the benefits of the new management providing process automation, redesign and a continuous improvement. The case study is the implementation of a BPMS in a public educational institution in Ecuador to see how management is improved, achieving higher levels of quality and reduced processing times.Item Despliegue de escenarios de entrenamiento en seguridad utilizando técnicas de virtualización con clonado rápido(Universidad de Cuenca, 2014) Pérez E., Ernesto; Bernal B., Paul F.; Universidad de Cuenca; Dirección de Investigación de la Universidad de Cuenca; DIUCThe training and constant preparation of the IT personnel is one of the most effective strategies to improve the quality, stability and security of networks and associated services. In this line, CEDIA has been implementing training courses and workshops for its members and within the CSIRT-CEDIA it has been considered the optimization possibility of the associated processes with the necessary infrastructure deployment to provide participants of these trainings, with appropriate personalized material in information security area. Thus we decided to use virtualization techniques to exploit the available resources, but even if by itself it isn't a new trend, the use of a complete copy of the virtual disk for each participant, is not only impractical in terms of time, but also in terms of the consumption of required storage. This work is aimed precisely to the consumption and time optimization associated with replication processes of the same machine and virtual disk for particular use of several participants.Item Detección automatizada de desfiguraciones en un sitio web mediante una solución basada en Software Libre(Universidad de Cuenca, 2014) Bernal B., Paul F.; Chafla A., Gustavo X.; Pérez E., Ernesto; Universidad de Cuenca; Dirección de Investigación de la Universidad de Cuenca; DIUCWeb site defacements are one of the most popular attacks nowadays and rely on making a change in a web site's HTML code, which is presented as a visual change on the site. In this paper it is proposed to develop a system for detecting and/or reporting such changes in an early and automated way. Free Libre Open Source Software (FLOSS) offers the ability to create solutions and is the framework on which a solution is proposed.Item Diseño e implementación de un sistema de soporte de decisiones para el Centro de Documentación Regional “Juan Bautista Vázquez”(Universidad de Cuenca, 2014) Haro Valle, Valeria Alexandra; Pérez Rocano, Wilson Rodrigo; Sigüenza Guzmán, Lorena Catalina; Cattrysse, Dirk; Saquicela Galarza, Víctor Hugo; Universidad de Cuenca; Dirección de Investigación de la Universidad de Cuenca; DIUCIn recent years, volume of library-related data has increased tremendously, as well as complexity of data sources and formats have been escalating. This information explosion has created a big challenge for data managing, archiving and accessing, especially in support of library decision-making. Knowing that a good library management involves integrating a number of strategic indicators, the implementation of a Data Warehouse (DW), that properly manages such amount of information and the complex mix of data sources, becomes an interesting alternative to be considered. This article describes the design and implementation of a decision support system based on a DW approach for the Regional Documentation Centre “Juan Bautista Vazquez”. To assure that all relevant data sources are included during the data analysis, the study utilizes a holistic methodology, previously proposed by Siguenza-Guzman et al. (2014) for an integrated library evaluation. This methodology assesses the library collection and services by incorporating important elements for library management, such as service performance analysis, service quality control, collection usage analysis, and information retrieval quality. Based on this data analysis, the study proposes a DW architecture to integrate, process and store the relevant data. These stored data are finally analyzed and visualized by the so-called online analytical processing (OLAP) tools. Initial tests of the implemented decision support system confirm the feasibility and effectiveness of the DW based approach, by successfully integrating multiple and heterogeneous sources, formats and varieties of information, permitting library managers to generate personalized reports, and even allowing to debug the day-to-day transactional processes.Item Diseño y evaluación de una red de sensores para analizar entornos acuáticos(Universidad de Cuenca, 2014) Romero M., Gabriela A.; Chávez, Patricia; Ochoa, Daniel; Universidad de Cuenca; Dirección de Investigación de la Universidad de Cuenca; DIUCIn aquaculture, shrimp growth and health are affected by changes in environmental and water quality parameters. Currently, parameter data is colleced manually. This paper proposes a wireless sensor network to collect automatically water parameter related data in shrimp farms. A mesh topology was used in the network implementation. This topology increases data transmission reliability. To reduce power consumption off-the-shelf hardware modules with energy saving mode were used. Nodes were placed on floating platforms to collect and transmit water temperature data at various rates. The sensor network was tested in lab and field environments (tanks and farms). The results obtained so far are encouraging and demonstrate the possibilities of exploiting low-cost electronic hardware for smart aquaculture applications.Item Metodología de análisis forense orientada a incidentes en dispositivos móviles(Universidad de Cuenca, 2014) Pinto, Diego; Universidad de Cuenca; Dirección de Investigación de la Universidad de Cuenca; DIUCThe article addresses issues related to forensic analysis applied to mobile devices, as well as a proposal and test of a methodology that effectively support these activities. This new system consists of three layers, the Bipolar Layer (BL) is of one LMT (LMT-1) for classifying sentiment polarity, while the Intensity Layer (IL) comprises two LTMs (LMT-2 and LMT3) for detecting separately three positive and three negative sentiment intensities. Only in construction phase, the Grouping Layer (GL) is used to cluster positive and negative instances by employing 2 k-means respectively. In Pre-processing phase, the raw text data is subjected to a tokenizer, a tagger, a stemmer and finally to GI dictionary to count and label only verbs, nouns, adjectives and adverbs with 24 markers that are used later to compute feature vectors. In Sentiments Classification phase, feature vectors are first introduced to LMT-1, then they are grouped in GL according to class label, afterward these groups of instances are labeled manually, and finally positive instances are introduced to LMT-2 and negative instances to LMT-3. The three trees are trained and tested on Movie Review and SenTube datasets utilizing 10-folds stratified cross validation. LMT-1 yields a tree of 48 leaves and 95 of size with 90.88% of accuracy, while both LMT-2 and LMT-3 provide two trees of 1 leaf and 1 of size with 99.28% and 99.37% of accuracy respectively. Experiments show that the proposed hierarchical classification methodology gives a better performance compared to other prevailing approaches.Item Necesidades percibidas por los clientes de un sistema CRM en empresas de compra online(Universidad de Cuenca, 2014) Peña E., Alejandro; Mejia O., Juan P.; Valencia A., Jhoany A.; Universidad de Cuenca; Dirección de Investigación de la Universidad de Cuenca; DIUCThe CRM is a tool that supports the management of solid and lasting relationships with customers so that the products and services that the company offers effectively fulfill the expectations of its customers and thus continuity is assured sales in a competitive environment like the present. However, running an automatic response is not a trivial task because the execution cost could cause a greater negative effect than the intrusion itself. Also, the system should have a broad set of responses and an algorithm to select the optimal response. This paper proposes a response toolkit that is integrated into an ontology-based IRS to allow automatic execution of the best response against a detected intrusion. A set of host-based and network-based responses that can be performed by an IRS is presented. The response execution is performed by several plugin-based agents that have been distributed over the network. The verification of this proposal is made in a defacement attack case with satisfactory results.Item Servidor de comunicaciones unificadas con Raspberry Pi y Micro-Elastix(Universidad de Cuenca, 2014) Peláez, David; Tipantuña, Christian; Universidad de Cuenca; Dirección de Investigación de la Universidad de Cuenca; DIUCThis paper shows the configuration and implementation of a unified communications server using a Raspberry Pi as the hardware platform and the Elastix distribution as software platform, specifically micro-Elastix which has been developed to work on ARM architectures.Item Sistema de conmutación y control de llamadas basado en OpenBTS y Asterisk(Universidad de Cuenca, 2014) Quiñones, Manuel; Tene, Juan Pablo; Rohoden, Katty; Carrión, Carlos; Universidad de Cuenca; Dirección de Investigación de la Universidad de Cuenca; DIUCIn the present research, some open source tools of hardware and software are used in order to build a free cellular base station BTS, of low cost and easy implementation, starting with an investigation of the technical concepts about the mobile systems, and the voice over IP VoIP technology.
