Item Sistemas alimentarios y estilos de vida en hogares de las parroquias urbanas del cantón Cuenca(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-03-22) Alvarracin Chapa, Johnny Eduardo; Becerra Pillacela, Nathaly Silvana; Álava Atiencie, Nubia GabrielaThe present research analyzes food systems and their impact on individuals' lifestyles. It is emphasized that food goes beyond a basic necessity, also being a cultural and social construction that influences the organization of societies and the development of cities. The concepts of food systems are defined, which represent the way societies are structured to acquire and consume food. These systems aim to provide food to the population, from the production of seeds, vegetables, and animals, highlighting their typology (Traditional, mixed, and modern). Lifestyle is also defined, constituting patterns of social and cultural behavior observed in various groups. According to Weber (2002), social position is associated with status, prestige, and power, and those who share the same social position tend to adopt similar behavior patterns. Consumers in the Supermaxi and Agro Azuay sectors show a clear preference for fresh and natural foods, with a growing interest in agroecological products. This change suggests a trend towards a more balanced and healthy diet, with a focus on fresh produce and vegetables. These findings highlight the importance of continuing to research and develop strategies to promote healthy and sustainable eating and improve the general well-being of the population. In both Agro Azuay and Supermaxi, there is a clear preference for fresh and agroecological foods acquired at fairs and fruit stands.
