Materials and Methods: 284 patients were evaluated using a self-report questionnaire and clinical examination, after that a validated scale that measures stress, anxiety, and depression (DASS-21) was used. Results: The data revealed a prevalence of 52.1 % of Bruxism and association with stress variable ( OR: 3.148 , 95% CI 1.9 - 5.1 ), anxiety variable (OR : 3.222 , 95% CI 1.9 - 5.4 ) and depression variable (OR : 3.284 (95% CI 2.0 - 5.3 ) with this parafunction, in other hand there is not a significant association between bruxism with age (OR : 1.400 ; 95% CI O.8 - 2.2 ) neither sex (OR : 1.260 IC 95 % ( 0.7 - 2.0 )Item Prevalencia del edentulismo parcial y total en adultos y su relación con factores asociados en la Clínica Odontológica de la Universidad de Cuenca(2016) Vanegas Avecillas, María Elizabeth; Alvarado Jiménez, Omar RicardoThe aim of this study was determine the frequency of partial and complete edentulism and the relationship with factors as: nutritional status and quality of life, and determine the impact of age and sex in the loss of teeth. Materials and Methods: The sample was collected in the College of Dentistry of University of Cuenca. The patients were adults. The sample was of three hundred seventy eight patients (378), and by means of a survey the patient's information was registered. Through visual examination and Kennedy’s classification the type of edentulism was established. The nutritional status was calculated through the body mass index BMI, and the analysis of the impact of the quality of life was carried out by means of questionnaire OHIP 14 (Oral health impact profile). The tabulation and analysis of the data was registered in the SPSSv21 program. The statistical test was the odds ratio. Results: The data revealed that the partially edentulous is the most frequent type of tooth loss, so Kennedy class III was predominant in both jaws, relationship between edentulism and quality of life no association with nutritional status was found. Sex doesn’t represent a risk factor for edentulous, unlike age if considered as risk of tooth loss. It was concluded that edentulism isn’t a predisposing factor for impaired nutritional status but affects quality of life. It was further noted that sex doesn’t affect the presence of edentulous. However tooth loss if it depends on the age, noting that the older increased risk of edentulism
