Item Valoración de la fragilidad en adultos mayores del proyecto ‘Historia Viva San Joaquín’. Cuenca. Septiembre 2024 – febrero 2025(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-03-06) Albarracín Chillogallo, María de los Ángeles; Medina Seminario, Ángela Corina; Cárdenas León, Verónica VanessaBackground: Because of the increasing globally aging population, study of frailty in older people has become more important in the field of geriatric health. Fragility has been linked to a number of conditions that have been shown to impact people's quality of life, including sarcopenia, dynapenia, and a greater susceptibility to adverse situations. Objective: The objective of the "Historia Viva San Joaquin" Project is to use the FRAIL scale to determine fragility in older adults between September 2024 and February 2025. Methods: A descriptive, prospective, and observational study involving 65 participants who were 65 years of age and older was carried out. Applying the FRAIL scale, data was acquired. Central tendency measurements and statistical tables were used to analyze the data. Results: Fragility was not evident in 84.62% of patients, although its development was associated with simultaneous conditions such diabetes mellitus (73%) and hypertension (80%). There was not a significant connection between sex and fragility. Fragility declined to 3.08% in the 85+ age group and was present in 12.31% of the 65–84 age group, suggesting an interaction that is not linear. There was a confirmed statistically significant correlation between fragility development and a high BMI (10.77%). Conclusions: The results showed that 15.38% of individuals had fragility. Furthermore, for those who are vulnerable to fragility, the importance of preventive through physical activity is emphasized
