Item Conocimientos, actitudes y práctica sobre mecánica corporal en los cuidadores de personas con discapacidad física pertenecientes al Área de Salud Yanuncay, Cuenca 2014(Universidad de Cuenca, 2015-11-11) Álvarez Lozano, Nube Estefanía; Ávila Balarezo, Miriam Alexandra; Tenezaca Dumán, Zandra Rocío; Ayavaca Tapia, Luz María; Pesántez Díaz, Tania LorenaCarers of people with physical disabilities provide permanent care to the disabled patient, however, unaware of the proper application of body mechanics and are prone to muscle skeletal disorders. Objective: Evaluate and promote the knowledge, attitudes and practice about body mechanics in caregivers of people with physical disabilities health area "Yanuncay", 2014. Materials and Methods: There was a quasi-experimental study in 39 caregivers of people with physical disabilities, who signed the informed consent. Applied a pre-test that assessed the theoretical knowledge of body mechanics, body alignment, balance, body movement coordinated, joint mobility and arc of mobility. We also evaluated the attitude and the implementation of parameters during the daily practice. It was subsequently implemented a plan of educational intervention with the use of audiovisual material, on the implementation of the body mechanics in the management of people with physical disabilities, conducted in 4 sessions of 60 minutes each, complemented with a practical training carried out two times at the home of each caregiver. Post intervention was applied the pos-test and assessed the knowledge, attitudes and practice acquired. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: Knowledge of body mechanics in the caregivers of people with physical disabilities improved in a 44.02 %, attitudes in a 34.62 % and practice in a 67.70 % Conclusion: The educational intervention improved knowledge, attitudes, and practice on body mechanics.
