Item Bienestar social de los recicladores primarios de la ciudad de Cuenca – Ecuador(Universidad de Cuenca, 2019-11-13) López Merchán, Valeria Silvana; Pozo Delgado, Valeria Estefanía; Astudillo Ochoa, Juan PabloIn recent years, the recycling has taken more relevance in different parts of the world because it generates benefits for the society. The people who do this activity have different denominations. In Ecuador, they are called recicladores, chamberos, clasificador, among other. In the city of Cuenca, primary recyclers are who collect material in the streets with non-motorized transport facilities. According to the Regional Initiative for the Inclusive Recycling (2015), a significant number of recyclers are in vulnerability conditions. The different social contexts to which they are linked, generate assessments of the mentioned scenario and its social performance, as Keyes says (1998) in his theory of social wellness. Thus, this study had as purpose to describe the level of social wellness of the primary recyclers in the city of Cuenca-Ecuador related to the socio-demographics variables. This research had a quantitative approach, of a transversal and non-experimental type with a descriptive reach. There was a sample of 200 primary recyclers, obtained by a simple aleatory sampling over a 276 population. There was applied the Keyes’ Social Wellness Scale, adapted in Spanish by Blanco and Díaz (2005) and the sociodemographic sheet. The primary recyclers show a moderated average of social wellness with a higher average in acceptance and social integration. Concluding, the primary recyclers value modestly their conditions and social performance. They feel useful and valued and they feel part of the society; however, they have less confidence in themselves and others.Item Experiencias del proceso de deportación de migrantes ecuatorianos residentes en la ciudad de Cuenca en el período 2020-2021(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-06-16) Tacuri Camacho, Luz Fernanda; Astudillo Ochoa, Juan PabloThis research work reports on the experiences of rights violation experienced by Ecuadorian migrants in their deportation process from the countries of Mexico and the United States. The methodology has a qualitative and descriptive approach. A semi-structured interview was used to collect information. The application of the technique was in persona, due to the close relationship with the participants. The data collected were from five deportees and one key informant who have experience in the subject under investigation. The information was systematized according to a matrix with operational categories in which it was possible to obtain units of meaning, in order to subsequently analyze and interpret the results obtained. The results reflect that there are situations in which their rights are violated, as well as experiences of discrimination, exclusion, mistreatment and violence against people in a situation of human mobility abroad, and through the human rights approach it is sought that there be equality and protection in favor of migrants. Finally, it is important to mention that the effect of deportation is a state of frustration, since the migrant has not been able to achieve his or her goal and provide a better quality of life for his or her family and after being deported the psychological state of frustration and sadness is evidentItem Ley para prevenir y erradicar la violencia contra las mujeres: perspectivas y experiencias de policías judiciales(2020-02-19) Flores Ortiz, Karla Daniela; Astudillo Ochoa, Juan PabloThe objective of this investigation was to give an apt description of the perspectives and experiences that judicial policemen had in regard with the Prevention and Eradication of Violence against Women Act. All 8 policemen from the Department of Intrafamilial Violence (DEVIF) of Azuay; located in the Specialized Judicial Unit against Women and Familial Violence in Cuenca, within the Judicial Complex of Azuay; were worked with. A semistructured interview with 5 basic questions was used as a data collection method. This investigation had a qualitative, exploratory approach as well as a transversal research design because the law was passed in 2018 and there was no previous research on the subject in the area of Social Psychology in Ecuador. The results showed that from the judicial police's perspective, the law has made significant changes in what is understood by violence. This has been noted by the establishing of sanctions for the different ways in which it is manifested. However, there are inconsistencies in their compliance, and they point out that one of the reasons for this may be due to ignorance and to the lack of inter-institutional articulation. In regard to their personal experiences, there has been an increase in the amount of work to do and this has affected them physically and emotionally. Given that the law is relatively new, it is recommended to conduct multidisciplinary studies with other departments that are part of the National Police of Ecuador and that have contact with women victims of violence.
