Item Percepción de asertividad sexual en mujeres de las parroquias rurales del cantón Chordeleg durante el periodo 2020-2021(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-09-29) Albancando Naranjo, Paula Lucía; Guamán Chocho, Angel Danilo; Heras Benavides, Dalila NatalyIn general, perceptions of the rural are built around adjectives such as backward, traditional, agricultural, rustic, wild, resistant to change, etc. According to this, it is assumed that sex education is constituted from stereotypes and taboos. Sexual assertiveness refers to the ability that people have to identify or have the initiative to have sex, reject unwanted encounters, negotiate the use of contraceptive methods, communicate desire, sexual satisfaction and sex life with the partner. In addition, it is considered a protection factor in situations of risk or sexual coercion, therefore, based on this premise, the research aims to understand the perceptions of sexual assertiveness in women from rural parishes in the Chordeleg canton from a gender perspective. The research design was qualitative with a phenomenological modality. Semi-structured individual interviews were applied to eight women from rural parishes of the Chordeleg canton during the framework of the health emergency due to COVID-19. Among the main results are: the scarce information on sexuality and contraceptive methods, as well as the sexual violence perceived by the participants. The main conclusion is that the rural context, through stereotypes, exercise of power and traditional gender roles, influences the way of living sexuality.
