Item Perfil hematológico de referencia en perros en el cantón Cuenca(2017) Alvarado Dávila, Paola Gabriela; Patiño Márquez, José Luis; Palacios Ordóñez, Teófilo EstuardoDetermine the hematimetrics index in apparently healthy dogs of three categories of ages and divided by gender, in Cuenca city. Methods: A descriptive and correlational study was designed to determinate the hematological values of 180 dogs clinically healthy in Cuenca city, which met the criteria of inclusion through a physical exam. The animals were grouped in 3 categories of age and gender: a) 6 to 18 months (30 females, 30 males), b) 19 to 30 months (30 females, 30 males), c) 31 to 78 months (30 females, 30 males). The blood was extracted from the cephalic vein in tubes vacuum with anicoagulant EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid), and were conserved in cooling, then it is transfered to laboratory for its corresponding analysis. The following values were obtained: total erythrocytes x1012/l, total leukocytes x109/l, hemoglobin g/dl, hematocrit %, total platelets 103/ul, volume corpuscular middle (VCM) fL, hemoglobin corpuscular middle (HbCM) pg, corpuscular hemoglobin middle concentration (CHbCM) g/dl; total and differential counts of polymorphonuclears and mononuclears. Analyzes were performed by the manual method with the use of a hematocitometro (Neubauer chamber), smear blood, Wright staining and spectrophotometry. For statistical analysis of the behavior of the data the following parameters were used: average (x ̅), standard error (EE), minimum value (Min), maximum value (Max), with the inclusion of the median (Me) as non-parametrical statistical; the percentiles 2.5 y 97.5 (P_2.5,P_97.5) as inferential statistical. Due to the absence of a normal distribution in the data, the test of Kolmogorov Smirnov P<0.05 and Shapiro-Wilk was used in the largest number of variables. Results: There were significant differences for leukocytes, neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes and basophils; being different between males and females. These results can establish values for reference in healthy dogs in the area, in relation to the age and sex.
