Abstract: | Roads are tangible road heritage and must be given national importance, always preserving them
in useful and safe conditions, which is why it is important to propose environmentally friendly
intervention strategies in road conservation and maintenance. The development of this research
focuses on the state road section E45 Macas Entrance to Sinaí of approximately 25 kilometers,
on flexible pavement. Evaluations were carried out in order to observe and monitor first-hand, the
deterioration, the structure of the pavement against vehicular loads, the quality of the existing
materials and environmental conditions, crocodile skin type failures, longitudinal cracks due to
fatigue and due to thermal contraction, in a surface index it has a range of 5 to 7 when applying
the VIZIR methodology it correlates pavements, structurally it was found that there are
characteristic deflections above 500 um, it is estimated that they are sites that require structural
reinforcement, which means there is no deficiency in the intermediate layers; considering two
options; The first is a traditional construction process with one hundred percent granular materials
and the second is to perform a rap (recycling of asphalt pavement materials). This last alternative
requires $353,070.10 plus VAT for construction work and $133,294.56 plus VAT for maintenance
for each kilometer of intervention, an estimated saving of 18% and 46% respectively. Finally, with
this research, it is established that it is necessary for the entities and agencies that manage road
heritage to focus intervention decisions based on technical, economic and environmental
analysis. |
