Percepciones familiares del impacto de la educación virtual durante la pandemia en el aprendizaje de los estudiantes

Abstract

The current research corresponds to an investigation developed as a bachelor thesis, which sought to accomplish the following objective: to meet the perceptions of parents towards the impact of virtual education, caused by the pandemic of covid-19, on the learning process of students from elementary school in a public institution in Cuenca. The impact of the pandemic provoked by the covid-19 caused, in a first instance, a health crisis that affected the health field. However, it transcended to all the dimensions in social life and, within them, the educational field. This research had a qualitative focus, and its technique was an interview that was applied to two parents of Second and Third grade “A” that belonged to a Millennium

Educational Institution in the city of Cuenca. Besides, this research used a guide of semi- structured questions to meet the parents’ perceptions in a detailed manner. The results of this

project show that the learning process was in fact influenced by the virtual education mode during the pandemic, specifically due to the limited contact between the educator and the students. On the other hand, the lack of training in technology on the part of the parents and students and an internet connection deficiency were also evident. Moreover, the emotional element was also jeopardized since the students were affected by their absence to the institutions and the social distancing, which resulted in feelings of sadness. To summarize, the virtual education during the pandemic had repercussions in the learning process of the students on an academic and emotional level.
