Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas de los padres adolescentes frente al embarazo de la gestante menor a 19 años que acude para control prenatal al Centro de Salud Nº 1, Cuenca 2013

Abstract

Objective: the present research tries to identify the backgrounds, attitudes, and practices of teen parents against pregnancy of the pregnant minor to 19 years, presenting for antenatal care in the Health Center No. 1.

Material and Methods: it is about a qualitative study in which it is intended to identify the backgrounds, attitudes, and practices. We worked with a focus group of 10 teen parents, who were given an in-depth interview. The information processing allowed important narrative structuring knowledge, attitudes and practices of teenagers from impending fatherhood.

Results: in the investigation it was found that ten teen parents possess knowledge about the subject of pregnancy and contraceptive methods and yet they did not put them in practice. In relation to attitudes seven teens had positive attitudes, such as joy, acceptance, responsibility, 3 teenagers had rejection and indifference.

Regarding to the practices 6 teenagers participate by actively in pregnancy, 4 do not do so because they have to work long hours.

Conclusion: We can conclude that teen parents who participated in this research they already have backgrounds about pregnancy, but they did not implemented, but on taking his paternity, both of them had positive and negative attitudes which had to be overcome, practices, they had to fulfill their role as a father, thus delaying their expectations of life.
